Ok, I've never heard of this so Im figuring this will be news to some others too (Possibly others who are better of than me financially lol).
Here on the liink below you will find an expansion to the avalon hill SST board game! Dealing mostly with the roughnecks apparantly, you'll need a copy of the board game to play, but just imagine the wealth of details contained within!

Nice find....This looks like the expansion scenerios that were printed in the General (AH's monthly mag) over time in the 80's, that have been made into a box set. You are so right about the wealth of detail contained within......lots of goodies and additions....breacher and borer vehicles that let MI and combat engineers create their own entrances to arachnid tunnel
complexes...air cars for transport.....arachnid prisoner cells encourage taking hostages and MI that must rescue of their captured and wounded buddies, makes interesting gaming and changes tactics for both sides over the course of the game
We have been trying to play AH SST scenarios with Mongoose rules and miniatures, and have come to lament the lack of rules that permit casualties to remain on the board to be rescued or taken hostage
Why just remove the unit from the board?......there could be a "wounded in action" "heavy damage" "light damage" & "stun" results to MI troopers
as a result of combat
Anyway, I would highly recommend a reading of the original AH rules and scenarios, as they are very close to, and expand upon the original book materials, quite well.....kinda like playing the book in a way.....

well, simply count models who failed thier armour save as being wounde3d, nad models that were "killed" with a kill roll are actually dead

the idea being that failing an armour save doesn't mean your dead, jsut means your combat ineffective
