That is an utterly stupid statement, considering Beethoven was a very popular composer in his day - and his Music would have been enjoyed by a very diverse cross section of the people. Not everybody then (or now) can read music.

Thats an utterly stupid commment they didn't have CD' s back then did they, so to listen to the music anywhere other than a concert you'd have to play it! Hence part of the reason for him doing piano concertos, you know for people to play at home on their piano's?

I assume you've never heard of Concerts then, also have you ANY idea how expensive sheet music and Piano's for that matter were!

In case you aren't to stupid to realise Max Beethoven made much of his living doing private concerts in wealthy patrons home to entertain their party friends and very few could actually read music. This was true of most well known Classical Composers.

And for your further info I used to play five different instruments: Piano, Accordion,Organ, Saxophone, Harmonica and a little bit of Guitar.
Started playing when about six the Accordion was bigger than I was. Couldn't hardly see over it. I no longer play because I am physically unable.

I paint when and if I want, to my own satisfaction, Got A's on all my Art and Drawing course at University and I still believe the Pre-painted miniatures will be a great boost to Wargamers everywhere.

Your snotty attitude toward those who do not prefer to paint is simply typical of your ignorance Max. It exhibits your true intolerance for the preferences of others.

If you pulled that noise where I game the other players would simply eject you and invite you to never return.

Some day you may gain some maturity but I will not hold my breath.

Most of Beethovens performing career took place in Vienna - noted for its many MANY concert halls.

The clientele of such establishments varied from the very Rich to relatively poor (who usually stood at the back of the auditorium).

You have to remember at that time these Composers were the 'rock stars' of their day (its parodied in Ken Russells film "Lisztomania" in 1975), and there music was accessible to all in performance.

Anyhow it seems I'm a bit wrong about the Beef Oven thing but I'm still standing by the "if you have never attempted to play any instrument you can't appreciate it fully" thing because its true, and anyone who plays and instrument and says it hasn't increased their appreciation of all forms of music is just doing it to prove me wrong.

Also Max the only thing I know about Frother or whatever it is, is that I have heard it referred to here, don't know what it is, have never been there or seen it and do not care to.

Seriously why don't we all just calm down now and let us all agree we each have our own opinions on Pre-painted miniature and agree to disagree.

I think a glass of Hot Cocoa might help all of us calm down.
