Starship Troopers Evolution

I have never seen so many friggin' babies in one thread in all my life. Quit yer flamin' of each other.

I'm embaressed to direct people to this thread that have become intrigued by the announcement. If you want o flame each other do it somewhere else or did you not read the topic of this post.

You're worse than that bunch over on the WoTC forums and that is saying alot. I have read every post in this thread, about half were a complete waste of time, but anyone new who comes over here and reads this thread will surely not want to try the game out after reading all this crap.

So grow up and act like you got some common sense. If you want to kill the SST game, this is a good way to do it.

And as for where I stand, I love to paint and this will not affect me one bit. I'll play with ones that I have painted and with pre-painted ones, who cares, shut up and play!

Gladly :) , oh hey I remember the you are here one from a while ago

I am sure this has been raised (don't have the time to read 44 pages) but i am not a fan of premade/prepainted miniatures...so this news brings me great sadness  I love the conversion aspect as well as the painting! I enjoy it when people go "That looks awesome" or being able to paint/convert to relax. The converting that kits provide is a destressor for me. I don't know what made Mongoose go this route, I am sure they will get more players but where will the individuality of armies go? Yes i know i could paint over the top of the models but what about converting? Call me crazy but I guess i really enjoy the work involved in miniature gaming and take pride in it!

In defense of everyone (other than Max) if he wasn't such an opinionated jerk, this thread would not have gotten hijacked the way it did.

He is rude, arrogant, and very unpleasant - and generally brings the worst out in people.

I apologise on behalf of myself and the other flamees, I think its best Max is ignored (again).

Don't worry Void Jumper, there has been talk about MGP providing unassembled, unpainted minis by special order. And nothing is easier to convert than plastic.

It's interesting how on this and the few other mini forums I read that there are a great many posters denouncing this with the same elitist, snobby attitudes.

But those same elitist individuals don't make their own figures and paints do they ???
Do they have 100% hand made (by their own fingers  ) elitist miniature gaming figurines of completely their own design and construction ???
No ??? Then just be a man and admit that we are all playing with toy soldiers / model soldiers / army men !!!!!!
Because if it wasn't made from scratch (including the paints and glue) ya'll got nothing to be elitist about !!!!!

And depending on the pre-painteds quality (mini and paint), Mongoose will be getting more of my limited money than it does now.

It is the nature of humankind, they hate change, even when it is for the better!

That said, many need to take a deep breath, then RE-READ the announcement. The current line will still be availible, the plastic will be the hard model style plastic, which lends itself to easy conversions for those that desire it, along with repainted for those that want to. The cost will be on par for unpainted kits, so no complaints, plus not only will the kits come with quick play rules, but also there will be full blown rulebooks that not only fix problems in the SST rulebook, but also add cool thing like covering and suppressing fire.

I am really looking forward, to something new and different in todays gaming market, looks like Mongoose will deliver! 8)

All that and a bag of chips, Old Soldier. The only thing I'm really disappoited in is the fact that they cancelled the Skinnie releases before the army was complete. I really wanted skimmers and Venerable Marauders to finish out my army.

NANITE! Take care Bro. I'm on the edge of the fence and ready to fall on this too my friend.

man, this has been a pretty crappy month. work problems, car problems, relationship problems, and now my F-ING own Hobby is kickin' me in the nuts. the BIG MAN in the sky is having a FIELD DAY on my ass this month.

I thought a goodnights sleep would help, it did'nt. I've got SO MANY QUESTIONS that I need answered, unfortuantley, only time will answer them for me.

......................well, i guess I'm going back to VOR: The Maelstrom again for awhile. It may be a DEAD game but I know it's not going to pull a GW on me!! not that mongoose is, but $3,500 later, I can't help but feel like I just bought the "London Bridge" if you know what I mean.

F#*(K!!!!

$3,500.00....I feel like a chump

Brother I feel your pain... five SST core sets, four CHAS suits, five big suits, three tankers, a king tanker, bran bug and a plasma.

Most of that was bough recently, too.

I *was* planning on getting three plasma bugs... now I feel like a chump, since half of the newer crap will likely be going on severe discount.

And I *like* painstakingly assembling and painting my models! It's about the only thing these models had going for them...

Shennanigans! I call shenannigans!

You have to remember at that time these Composers were the 'rock stars' of their day (its parodied in Ken Russells film "Lisztomania" in 1975), and there music was accessible to all in performance.

Not to mention The Simpsons' brilliant pisstake of Amadeus, where Bart-as-Mozart was a brash and crude rock star....

But. You. Can. Still. Get. All. The. Old. Minis. Mongoose. Will. Continue. To. Produce. Them. And. They're. Even. Considering. Limited. Production. Runs. Of. The. New. Minis. Unpainted.

It's been said dozens of times in every thread on PPM/Evo - Mongoose are trying their damndest to please everyone and people are jumping to conclusions with seemingly only half the info - EVEN THOUGH IT'S ALL BEEN POSTED BY MATT HERE.

I mean, how the hell can you call Shenanigans or think thay Mongoose are cheating you when they're even continuing to support the current rules edition post-evolution? What the hell more do you want?

but what about converting?

We are talking about PLASTIC models. PLASTIC which are pretty easy to convert

Converting and painting won't go away unless you want them to go.

Also nevermind that current range won't be going anywhere so big source of spare parts for conversions.

Probably that Mongoose would have kept SST in it's slow but sure way of self-destruction with nothing changed. Even when change is made so as to ensure minimum amount of problems for older players...
