Stargate ACTA conversion

I printed out your mod for ACTA and I like it. Love the fleets that you have so far. Just one thing that bothers me, other than the wraith the rest of the fleets do not have initiative values.

@bondp99. Your counters are awesome, are you planning to do the wraith cruiser, Ori fighter, and Danial Jackson? (the ship, not the character  )

Hi there.
I was the designer of the Wraith and giving them a +1 Ini was a thought to reflect their way of warfare. It's not much, but a little difference to make them special from Earth/Goa'uld (apart from not having shields).

Presently, I'm thinking of a revision of the Hive ship. As per its size, there must hundreds of Wraith aboard.

What do you think, would it make sense to drop the crew score altogether and to lower the fighters to 16 as well as most energy pulses by 8 to 10 ad?

Thanks for the input?

I got a friend of mine to have a couple of games today. It being a holiday we got 3 5pt battle games in.

Earth Vs Goa-uld
Goa-uld Vs Ori
Wraith Vs Earth

Of the 3 games the earth vs goa-uld felt the most balanced. it was bloody, but it felt it could go either way.

The second game was a bloodbath, for the goa-uld that is. At 5pt battle my mate took 5 of the ori ships, and I took an Apophes fleet, 1 pt each of pyramid motherships and Ha'taks from the general list. And 2 pts of upgraded Ha'taks, and Apophes's personal Ha'tak. He set up the Ori Mothers ships covering each other, so the cloaks were not so effective, and got some real good rolls for the beams. By the time I managed to get through the shields in any meaningful way I didn't have enough fleet left to even damage the paint on his ships.

Hallowed are the Ori!!!

Stat wise I don't think the Ori mo ships are too bad, maybe less shields, but I think they need to be bumped up to war. Being at battle level puts too many of them on the table, and they are a real handful.

The 3rd game was a win for the wraith, but it wasn't as spectacular as the Ori's spanking of the snakeheads.

I think the best think to do to the hive ship would be to bump it up to war, and then balance out its attack dice and fighters. Like the Ori Mothership, I think having it at battle puts too many of them on the table. I like the way the Wraith feel different from the other races, with their lack of shields, and regenerating ships, and the Wraith cruisers feel just about right.

Please don't think I'm trying to be critical, you guys have done a really good job, I'm just offering my ten cents.

If I'm right, Tolwyn is presently on the Ori problem.

Interesting idea to bump the Hive Ship to war.
Perhaps then GeG/4, a Huge Hanger for a Cruiser, a few more ad in pulses and no crew score. I have to try this :P

Also, one questions concerning the beams. We all know the scene when the Omega Destroyer ripped with its heavy laser cannon though the Streib ship. Per screen, SG beams are much less coherent than B5 ones and do not linger on enemy ships.

What would you prefer. Leaving the beams as they presently are or giving them Mini Beam and a few more ad instead? And also, should the rules then be modified to not allow concentrate all "firepower"?

May be right but no reason not to have double, triple or Quad damage mini beams................. :) I'd keep the Concetrate firepower as thats often what they actually do................

re the Replicators - thats two whole new fleet lists:)

hi. the Daniel Jackson class is on the sheet with the other Asgard ships.

EDIT: Added a new sheet of counters: 3 Wraith Cruiser, 10 Ori Fighters and an additional Ori ship

Has anyone tried putting these against B5 fleets yet? I'm going to try it this week. Just curious what other people thought if they had done it yet.
