SST Question - Artillery

I find the Artillery Deviation rules a little cumbersome, and was looking for alternate methods. Does anyone use another method. I did a battle last night and used a GW(GASP) scatter die with a 6 sider. It seemed to work ok, but maybe it was to accurate. Any other ideas out there?

Thanks, Xin

What's your problem with the artillery rules?
They work really good, espacially when bombing ground units with TAC-Fighters.

And they make artillery very reliable if you choose your target point right.
(and it's correct - no modern artillery deviates to the sides)

The BF: Evo rulebook has what I assuming to be the new deviation system in it. Easier to use than the current system for SST, but it does allow for deviation to the sides.

Huh? Your right that the artillery shell itself doesn't deviate to one side or the other in flight (not by enough to be significant at least), but its perfectly possible that the person calling in the artillery can get it wrong.... causing it to go off to one side or the other.

My only experience of using the art rules in SST is having them used against me and they seem to be horribly accurate :( Would love to get a tac fighter to go with my exo force so I could get some pay back.

you're actually playing exosuits without a tac? sounds pretty suicidal to me

Nope, have 2 x 3 man squads of Grizzlies, a 3 man Cougar and 2 Cougar Officers. Each Grizzly squad has 2x double 6 guns and 1 double firestorm, and all the cougars are just 6 gun.
