The "franchise" fanbase is almost non-existent in RPG market share terms. So, nothing much to hurt. Unless, you think that if it bombs it will cause YOU to stop playing?

The fans and the game itself have been going strong for over three decades and I haven't seen any other RPG except iterations of D&D that come close let alone exist any more. I'd say Traveller is durable enough to stay it's course no matter what side events happen.

It won't hurt the game, but it would likely prevent anyone having another go at trying to bring it to the screen for at least a decade.

You need an experienced producer who can see the potential of the IP and the material, understand the direction it needs to be given to connect with normal viewers and hire writers who have the knack to write a script that will keep the viewers interested.

Considering how many other groups (none) have tried to do this, I don't think "scaring them away" is a legitimate concern.

I also might have prefered a more experienced producer, maybe Dead Gentlemen (if we're going to stick with groups who have done similar "indy" projects), but nobody else has stepped up, so....

Being very negative arent we? You would think you would be at least relatively interested in someone making a show about your favourite game. I just dont understand some people.

It may be the next Iron Sky and that's a good thing!

So maybe a chance they'll have hidden easter eggs like a 1950's Blue British Police Phone Box being ignored by the cast? 8)

Isn't one of the cast associated with Dead Gentlemen?

I think it's pretty awesome that something like this is even possible. Great to be living in the future.

But I wish the video had featured some dialogue.

Well finally took the plunge and backed it, looks like its almost halfway to its first goal in what about 5 days?

I believe its running between June 1st to July 15th so roughly 45 days its going to be interesting to see how far they get with this!

Was that a clip I saw on facebook regarding the female android I believe I heard her talking?

The first clip with just the music is a bunch of mini-clips from what they've already filmed. The material is proof-of-concept for the Kickstarter campaign only and will be replaced when they have funds to build proper sets. They are releasing the "full" versions of each mini-clip used to create the first clip on the Kickstarter page every few days.
