Speculative Trading is too stable

I think Speculative Trade in this ver. is too stable.
I want to more profit and risk.

I enjoyed classic style trade that can 400% sale price.
The table needs at least to 300%. It's real pleasure of roleplayng space traders to carry out great profit ratio. At the same time, I think bigger number(24+) is need in the table. When many DMs are added(especially smuggling), 23 is easily overflowed.

However I think the risk of loss or too little profit is necessary too. It's not exiting that Traveller always can earn stable profit.
Common travellers with good broker skill, it's almost impossible to appropriate deficit now.
So I think "pitfall number" or "fumble" is valuable. For example, 15 in sale price table is 50%, or natural 3/4 is doubled purchase price, and so on.

Well if it is too unstable and cannot be counted on to cover costs for making a run then nobody would do it, it would not be worth the risk.

Admittedly a Broker oriented player (I have one in my Drinax campaign), is steadily making a lot of money for the entire ship and the King (who gets 10 percent off the top, no sad Seven). the effect of a couple of ranks in Broker and Int bonuses can push the purchase price down quite a bit.

Merchant Prince trading is even more stable if given enough time. The use of Allies and assistants, Influence and market manipulation can result in incredible profits. I am interested to see the next edition of that book to see how they handle it. Throw in Boon dice and the profits can be increased again.

I think that's what makes it interesting. If you want safe, haul freight.

The old system it was WAY too easy to make bank. There wasn't really any risk if you picked the right planet codes and hired a good broker.

Hiring brokers is broken in my opinion. You shouldn't be able to get a guaranteed high skill broker.

You can't, they are randomised. Have you seen the revised rules?

No, I didn't notice that they changed that. It's actually pretty close to my suggestion, but I didn't think to make the cost steeper for black market goods.

I'd like to avoid making tens of millions after 2-3 successful radioactive iso-topes trades.

I'm a very big fan of having significantly less returns than MGT1 on speculative trading. It had previously completely devalued missions.

Would you like to go help the princess? She's offering 50k.. EACH!!
Or just spend the week buying advanced bio/tech/radioactives/etc for 200k-1mil a ton and then selling for 300%+ profit 1 jump away?

Hello pirates.

And what's the deal with that abandoned ship?

What do you mean "improper handling fee"?

Yes, yes, I understand that you're upset that your friend the broker died. But did he sign our delivery chit yet?

A three-week layover while we wait for the cargo to arrive? I guess we've got time to deal with this princess.
