Speaking Of Elric ...

I would buy any and all Moorcock based RPGs compatible with Legend.
I regularly run Elric and it's a great setting, being able to easily cross over to Corum, Hawkmoon, the various settings for Erekose and a modern day crossover to Jerry Cornelius would be awesome.

In the early days of Stormbringer and the Hawkmoon RPGs, (both compatible with each other ) I used to run crossover stuff between them and loved it.

Elric, Hawkmoon and Corum I still tend to mix and match as they work well together as well as some of the more unique settings.

Not very keen on Jerry Cornelius - I find his character quite annoying............

Well, for fun and kicks, next time you could play Miss Brunner and threaten to meld with him and turn him into a Rebus again ...

*looks back on what I just said*

Not sure if showing my age, or going insane.

Welcome to Moorcock's mind.

The JK character is the most psychedelic of them all and some of the JK books are pretty wacky. Not to all tastes I admit, but using the JK books as a basis for Scifi/modern day setting would be handy (for me anyway).

Jerry Cornelius would make a really good setting - time hopping and decadence. I'm not sure how supplements would handle the incest or other sex references, though. But they are full of morally ambiguous characters, more so than even, say, Elric.

To me, doing Cornelius right would be about capturing that early/mid 1970s hedonism and decadence. Lots of Hawkwind appearances, flares, cuban heels, faux-Edwardian dandyism and Malcolm McDowall. The time, dimension hopping and kinky sex are part of that, but the Cornelius stories are mood and time pieces first and foremost. Whenever I read one of those original stories I can really sense Portobello Road circa 1972 and that truly gonzo, slightly sinister, psychedelia that was happening.

Throw in Department S and Jason King, and you'd have something groovy happening, man ... *dons heart-shaped rose-coloured shades*

Perhaps Luther Arkwright (the Jerry Cornelius-like character from Moorcockian comic books by Bryan Talbot) would be better suited for actual gaming.

There is a Luther Arkwright RPG. It was published by 23rd Parallel Games in 1992 and was written by Jim Brunton (White Dwarf contributor). Its very reminiscent of BRP games, with %age based skills and statistics. Its not too bad - very much of its time, and the psionics rules are good. Its a shame that the game never really took off.

I've no idea how easy it is get hold of a copy these days: I've had mine since it came out but I've only rarely seen it appear in eBay. If you can track down a copy though, its worth mining for ideas for a Multiverse-style, Cornelius-like campaign.

There was also 'The Fire Opal of Set', a Luther Arkwright Traveller adventure in Imagine #14. It was credited to Mike Brunton and Bryan Talbot. Bryan provided a two page text introduction and also provided a a two page player character briefing in comic strip form and a cover showing the pre-gens supplied for the adventure.

Indeed the multi-verse as penned by Mr Moorcock, is an awesome concept for RPG's regardless of your favourite characters.

My preferences are for the more straight S&S style stories featuring Elric (of course), Hawkmoon, Corum, Ulrik Skarsol - is that a play on words for an unflattering turn of phrase regarding Uranus?, and last, but no means least, Erekose.
