Space Station floorplans

Mongoose
I'm going to be running a couple of gaming sessions in a large, research space station next month. Anyone have any recommendations on pre-existing floor plans or "overview" blueprints/schematics that might fit the bill to save me a bit of work. I'd like multiple levels/regions, but nothing death star size. :)

Mongoose's B5 deckplans were ok, but small if you want figures on the map.

Holistic Design do a set of station plans. http://www.holistic-design.com/NA/Deckplans.htm#Cirrus Their plans were scaled for 25mm figures.

You can also do what GDW did years ago and use some of the decks of the Lightning class cruiser. The MGT book "Fighting Ships" even allows you to do this with other ships. Borrow a slice of the Tigress, for example.

For smaller stations, gut the engine section out of the Broadsword, the old version of the P.F.Sloan, or "The Rock", the little ship from "Expedition to Zhodane".

A classic D&D module that I love, not complete deck plans, but also alien enough to work: Expedition to the Barrier Peaks (1st edition D&D). Also has tons of pictures, color and bw.

For some quick maps

google (or some search engine) maps and floorplans for

Mall
Strip malls
homes (houses, manisons, libraries, musemums)
stores
parks (recreation and zoo's)
Hotels, motels, hostels (for rooms and staying places)

Some of these will give you floor plans, some in color some with shelves and items and some with just store names or types.

You can cobble these together to make up shopping areas(malls)
Small stores for those odd corners
and different living spaces.

You don't have to map out the entire station this way, but could sketch were the things are and then have the places in some detail.

There's a space station in the Future Armada range available on DriveThruRPG: http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product_info.php?products_id=20379&it=1

and another one:

Revelation Station will cost you $7.50, but I purchased it long ago and was happy with what I got.

It's not a research station, more of a small high port, but it wouldn't take much tweaking to make it fit your needs. Includes 25mm plans of important areas.

Or, you can get the CT Reprints: The Apocrypha I CDROM from Far Future Enterprises. That volume contains all of the Adventure Class Ships products made by FASA way back in the day. I know they have at least one small base included in there ...

VERY small, and not an easily stackable design.

A more obscure source for plans to help it would be the starships book for the 2nd edition of Albedo RPG. Lots of stacked cylinders of various diameters and purposes.

Along the same lines is the old Judges Guild module for Traveller, "The Doom of the Singing Star". A stacked cylinder ship nearly the size of the AHL but configured as a liner, complete with shopping and other open public areas.

After looking at the previews of the misc suggestions I went with this one. It's a phenomenally good product for the price. Very well laid out and explained. The detail of the entire floorplan is EXCELLENT. Easily one of the best looking floor plan products I've purchased.

The only suggestion I've seen so far would be a print list of how many of each page to print to have the full station as it's outlined.

Thank you very much for the suggestion Valarian!

That's very slick indeed!

I did an experimental gas mining station, to be used as part of a homage to the first Traveller adventure I played, called "Sky Rig".

I'm going to be building and decking an orbital "shanty town" space station when I've met my current Traveller design commitments..

Glad the suggestion satisfied your need. I like the Future Armada range for the quality of the deckplans, even if some of the ship designs are a little too recognisable.

lucasdigital - nicely done. Do you have a list that matches the room #s as well? Planning to do it as a PDF or just gold old fashioned fan work.

Hi Paladin, and thanks.

I was planning on doing "The skyrig incicent" as a OGL adventure. Alas, I got bogged down on the adventure and moved on, leaving only rough notes on the layout.

I could only find these few details to support the plans:

Deck 1 - Command

1. Operations
2. Meeting Room
3. Administrators Office
4. Secretarial Office
5. Prospecting Lab
6. Meteo Lab
7. Med Lab
8. ITU
9. Store room

Deck 2 - Accommodation Deck 1

10 - 16. Standard, single occupancy stateroom
17. The administrator's stateroom
18 - 40. Standard, single occupancy stateroom

-
Anyone wishing to use the plans, can of course make up their own legend :-)
