Some of the new ships/fleets

a bit of topic...Just got my Mankhat, has it got new "wings"(bigger then the usual Dilgar "fins") to put on the side of the ship, cause no photos with it(as I can find) have the extra wings on, just the holes on the side. Are they extra wings for own modifications or?

I don't think e-mines are broken. I think they should be exclusive to the Narn. It gives them an edge all their own. Handing e-mines to the Gaim is just like 40K's dreaded codex-creep...

I agree. I think the fix to e-mines on the Narn side was good. (The G'Quan's beam is still too small and it is too dependent on its weak 1-shot e-mine, but that is another issue.) The problem came when they gave 40" models to the Gaim that are turreted AND come in lots of tiny batteries. That becomes abusive because they can cover everything and everywhere. They don't hit hard but against small ships they don't have to.

Reduce them to forward arc, 30" range and consolidate them into 1 battery and they are reasonably fair (although I would have preferred the Gaim get something other than the Narn's signature weapon and that skirmish-level queen ship needs to loose a die or 2).

Truthfully, the queenship-issue for the Gaim could've been handled better so as to force a real choice. What they should've done is have Queen versions of regular Gaim ships (i.e. command versions) that are either weaker but with a command bonus to stay at the same priority or more powerful pverall at a higher priority (see the G'Tal vs. G'Quan and Omega vs. Command Omega for examples of both methods). Standardized Gaim ships = more balanced game ships and forces a trade off with regard to the queenships vs. non-queenships. As it stands the Gaim have little reason to use non-queenships.

I think the real fix for Queens is to limit how many you can take in a fleet, and to completely remove Flight Computers as a SHIP trait, and make it a Queen-centric trait instead.

Queens should be limited to what priority you buy, so if you spend 1 battle point on a Queenship, then you can -ONLY- have, in ADDITION to that Battle-level Queen ship, two Raid-level Queenships, and four Skirmish-level Queenships.

This has two focuses and effects:
1) It encourages people to buy the highest level, most protected Queenship on their list to protect their Queens and open up the number of Queenships they can get.

2) It actually enables the dynamic that Gaim have where if they lose all the Queens they suffer dramatic penalties.

As it stands now, you might as well remove the rule where if there are no Queens you lose all the bonuses as people hardly ever take anything but Queenships.
