Solomon Kane Conan Conversion

Ok, this is a mental exercise, really (or a really mental exercise), which started off from a conversation.

How easy would it be to use the Conan rules for Solomon Kane?

I have the Pinnacle SK book, but Im not too keen on SW as a set of rules, and I got to thinking, I could use RQ or D20. Runequest has black powder rules, but the sorcery isnt the best fit, whereas, I like the Conan sorcery rules as a possibility.

Character races would be a piece of cake, just change the names back to realworld racial stereotypes, Picts could be Amerinds, Stygians are Egyptians, etc..

Character classes are a good fit, with maybe the addition of Privateer, and I think there are even options in Pirate Isles or the Fs books for that kind of thing. Anyone think something is missing?

Howard used the same kinds of beasties in SK as he did in Conan, giant apes, giant snakes, demons, etc.. No work there at all. I could even use the Ruins of Hyboria and other supplements almost as written!

So, I guess it would be fairly straight forward, just need some info for flintlocks, etc. Anyone got some good stats for black powder weapons for D20?

Im not going to promise that I'll actually do this, but I just might. I just might.

I would get the rules for Pirates! I believe Amazon carries this title which is a D20 rules system. In it are rules for ship to ship battles with cannons and included are rules for muskets and flintlocks etc. It should merge nicely with Conan without a lot of work.

I found it on Amazon, but I don't think the publisher is correct: http://www.amazon.com/Pirates-system-LII1503-Rules-Supplement/dp/0971214565/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_1

Check it out :)

What about D20 modern/ D20 cthulhu
They'll have stats for antique firearms.
Free DL, as well.

If not, PM me, we can arrange something.

I second d20 CoC. It has some "pulp setting" rules which work quite well. Plus, the sorcery system is brilliant. And it's essentially class-less. I did a "conversion" of the d20 Conan classes to d20 CoC professions; if I can find the document I will post the details.

I'm actually doing the opposite and running a Conan game using the SW rules and the Solomon Kane RPG from Pinnacle.

I find SW is a much better fit for Conan than d20 ever was, but that is just my opinion. My group loves it though.
