Solomani Navy Depot in the Alpha Crucis Sector

I was wondering if anyone knew where the Solomani Navy depot would be in Alpha Crusis Sector? Has it been established?

Solomani Navy: Twilight Naval Depot and home of the Solomani Navy's Strategic Reserve

Twilight 0911 is two parsecs rimwards from Home, and off any known trade routes. It's function isn't secret, but any unauthorized vessel will be shot at sight, if it doesn't surrender on initial communications contact.

The Strategic Reserve doesn't have mothballed ships, and divides it's assets equally between Twilight and Home, the primary naval base there being Wolfe's Lair, ensuring that it's FleetRons are ready to be deployed when ordered by either the Grand Admiral, or by a directive from the Secretary General, without a week or so delay to relay the order to Twilight.

Twilight has the only shipyard that specializes in manufacturing Beijing class deep strike cruisers, and has two slips that launch one every one hundred ten weeks each, just over two years construction time.

It also manufactures the Shinano class, an annual batch of six every one hundred thirty two weeks, or slightly over two and a half years, or fifteen reserved slips.

Solomani Navy: Naval Depots

Trailing Military District: Keine 2132

Rimward Military District: Niva 0901

Coreward Military District: currently under occupation

Spinward Military District: Girral 1230

Each is isolated from the surrounding systems.

Niva's primary function is to act as a bulwark against any Imperium push against Home, the Solomani political centre, as well as act as the District's naval command headquarters, which it's located between the Solomani Rim and Home, whereas the other two naval depots are located more centrally within their districts.

if I may, may I ask further details on the Beijing and Shinano class vessels please?

Beijing class is a forty thousand tonne prebellum legacy deep strike cruiser, manufactured with then cutting edge technology, described in the Fighting Ships of the Solomani, though my current take on it has it weighing in at sixty six thousand tonnes to take advantage of a tech level fourteen jump five version of a tech level twelve jump three drive. It's the only large cruiser still in production by the Solomani navy, and is the mainstay of it's rapid reaction forces. It's complement includes a reinforced Confederation Marine Commando company, and the requisite assault shuttles and escort fighters.

The Shinano was originally supposed to be the perfect blended battleship and carrier.

The details will remain ambiguous until starship design sequence is finalized.

Thanks againCondottier.

I have the Fighting Ships of teh Solomani, and while I like the designs, I find the appearance of the vessels disappointing and in many ways too Imperial looking. In my mind, the Imeriium Nvy tends to like wedges, and I can see the Confederation making an obvious move away from that to something more cylindrical or cigar-shaped. Not like an old-school rocket though. Does that make sense?

Aesthetics evolve, certainly over a century; I dislike the aquatic theme that comes up with the other books.

I took what was given and decided to find a way to reconcile the designs; my take on it was that the Solomani decided that they want all the weapon systems on their ship to be facing the opponent, that one reason for the over emphasis to building mostly dreadnoughts was to obtain overwhelming superiority at the point of contact, and finish off any opposition as soon as possible, rather than risk dicking about with elaborate manoeuvres. Bearing should be hundred percent for any target in the forward facing for the Imperial wedge design.

Another reason for the design was to pander to a subconscious fear that humans would have seeing these wedges overhead.

This all plays into the classic Imperial class stardestroyer, though ironically, the Confederation is a republic.

Building less numbers may have persuaded the naval architects to build more expensive hulls, whereas the the Imperium seems to prefer cheaper close structure, and for some strange reason, the Consulate dispersed structures.
