I thought some of you might be interested in a new app I've made for iPhone & iPad: Sector
It's just a simple app at the moment that's based on the Traveller SRD document, and generates an entire sector worth of worlds at a time. The system density is set to vary from concentrated towards the centre of the sector, falling off towards the edges (although, like everything else, there's a big dose of randomness to it).
All the worlds have a full UPP with a btt of additional explanatory text for those of us who can never remember what each code means.
The map colours the world based on hygrographics, and shows the atmosphere type with stroke width and colour too. The overall size gives an indication of the size of the world also.
Sector also draws trade routes and attempts to name clusters of worlds and empty areas. All names are random, but based on real worlds and place names, so there's a bit of grammatical structure to them.
You can edit the map too - tapping a hex either removes a world if there's one there, or creates a new one if it's an empty hex.
I'm intrigued to see what people think, so please download it. It's been a labour of love, and quite a fun project. I have some ideas about things I'd like to add next. I'd really like to expand it to generate the entire extended system details (ie. all the worlds in a system, not just one) - but I think that could get overwhelming!
Thanks for reading. Here are a few promo codes so you can get it for free! :
