Hello there
I devised some stuff for snipers as i personally thought that the rules for siper guns were rather wimpy and ineffective

The points Value i have given are exactly the same as for a SGT or LT
the figure MUST be a SGT or LT with the Sniper heroic trait plus whatever
else skillwise or equipment you want to give him .
Then i cost him at an extra 30 points after all he/she is a specialist .

The figure then can act as a independant unit , with movement and hiding attributes the same as a mantis hunter /assasin bug , using cover and
specialised camoflage equipment . Normal detection rules apply.

He/she will have the same two actions throughout the game with the exception of Normal Shot Special aimed shot

Normal Shot- the sniper aims and fires as normal . All Normal shooting rules apply .

Special Aimed Shot -One ready Action to perform then normal shooting rules to hit ect . Then once the target is hit on a roll of
3+ all humanoid , bug creatures take an instant two hits negating armour
and dodge saves
2+ all very large creatures plasma bug brain bug ect take an instant 2 hits
negating armour and dodge saves.

After a special aimed shot the arachnid/skinny player rolls a d6 on a roll of 5 or six the bug/skinny sensors have discovered the snipers position
and the sniper must find a new sniping position or face the consequences.

Hope this is of some use , it works in my games pretty well.
H

Do you mean he must be readied to perform the sniper action?
A ready action is just one action, like detonating a chas or performing rupture.

What are the new Evo sniper rules like?

I managed to get hold of the MEA Fedayeen for B:EVO - they have the Dragunov SVU sniper rifle. It works in the following way:

The SVU gains a +2 bonus to its Damage Dice, against Size 1 targets only. If a Ready action is taken before it shoots, you may opt to roll its Damage Dice against any model in the Fire Zone, rahter than allocate normally.

I presume that Sniper Rifles in SST will work in the same way, but maybe allowing the Damage Dice bonus to larger size models to allow it to be effective against bugs and the more advanced sniper rifles they would have in the future?

I laugh at your slaps. Rob_Alderman has the strength of a geriatric gerbil who only gets out of bed when he wants his mummy, while, as for Mr Evil himself, a wet marshmallow with a friendly disposition causes more fear.

Again, I say, I laugh at your slaps.

I think there were sniper rules in one of the Signs and portents. These seem more detailed though.

Some Snipers upcoming in BFEvo have anti material rifles which do extra damage to targets of a certain size or lower.

Oh. So bears, and Nissan Micras, and post boxes. Sweet.

Seriously though, that must have some heck of a punch. It would probable definetly tear most body armour to shreds, but whatabout armoured car doors? Hell, it would probably take out most large jeeps with a shot to the tires if its that strong.

What you'll probably see is a reverse of the old accurate trait. Instead of a larger bonus against larger targets, you'll get a set bonus to your dice roll for targets of a certain size or below. Say the Morita long rolls D6, it may get D6+2 or 3 against targets of size 3 or less.

For a long time the .50 cal has been the measure of protection on armored cars, they were either .50 cal proof, or not and it was specified in their design specs. Even the Bradly IFV's first generation had armor that was rated up to 7.62mm, not .50cal. :!: Later improvements were supposed to increase its protection to the point it could stop rounds all the way up to 25mm.
