Six Day War

Nimitz

Mongoose
Hello everybody, i'm new on the board :)
I am a old historical wargamer and i was looking for a rule to play my 1/72 vehicles collection (more than 80 models, WW2 and modern), then i bought World at War and Modern Combat.
Beside WW2, i hope to play the Vietnam War and Six Day War, mainly Israeli-egyptian fights.
There is no problem at all to find vehicle data, but it's a bit harder to find something on the organization and weapons of the Israeli and Egyptian soldiers.
Someone have some informations about that?
Thanks a lot ;)

I don't have Egyptian details to hand for the 1967 war, I'll post them later. If it's any use, Syrian squads were usually 9x rifles and 1x LMG (all mech squads and some others swapped out a rifle for a RPG-2. Rifles ranged from WW2 era to AKs. Expect the Egyptians were similar). You've already got data on the vehicles but I'll list the types for completeness's sake.

ISRAELI

ARMOUR: M60 (Mag'ach), Centurion (Sh'ot Meteor), AMX-13s and various Sherman modifications w/75mm, 76mm or 105mm guns.

VEHICLES: Jeeps (with MGs, SS-11 ATGMs or 106mm recoilless rifles), assorted M3 halftracks (with 81mm and 120mm mortars, 90mm guns, SS-11 ATGMs and basic troop carriers), Makmat 160mm SP mortars.

ARTILLERY: 17-pdr and 25-pdr guns, 40mm Bofors AA

AIR: Mirage III, Super Mystere, Ouragan, Alouette helos w/MGs

RIFLE SQUADS: Typically NCO w/Uzi, 8x FN-FAL and 1x L4A1 LMG. Three squads to a platoon, 3 platoons plus a command team per company.

MECH SQUADS: Typically 6x FN-FAL, 2x L4A1 LMG, 1x Superbazooka and 1x NCO w/Uzi. Carried in 1x M3 halftrack. Higher organisation as rifle squads.

SUPPORT TEAMS: .30cal MMG, .50cal M2 HMG and 60mm mortars. Three men per team, loader and team leader with Uzis. Also 2-man AT teams of 1x Superbazooka and 1x Uzi.

I'd be guessing as to how the individual squads were organised regarding fireteams etc, but going by the weapon mix I'd keep the rifle squad as one large unit but split the mech squad into two teams of four (3xrifle, 1x LMG) with an AT team of the NCO and the bazooka.

EGYPT

ARMOUR: T-54/55, T-34/85, Centurion Mk.3, AMX-13, M4A4 Shermans and Shermans w/French 75mms (same as AMX), PT-76, SU-100 and -152

VEHICLES: BTR-40 and BRDM-1 scout vehicles, GAZ-69 and Landrover softskins, ATGM armed BRDM-1 and GAZ-69, B-11 armed GAZ-69 (107mm recoilless), AA versions of the BTR-40 and BTR-152, ZSU-57-2 SPAA

ARTILLERY: Russian WW2 AT and field guns, some later types

AIR: Mig 15/17/19/21 and Su-7,

RIFLE AND PARA SQUADS: 8x AK-47, 1xRPD LMG, 1xRPG-2. 3 squads per platoon, 3 platoons plus command per company. Para platoon could be airdropped or carried in one Mi-8 per platoon. Rifle squad could use trucks.

MECH AND MOTOR SQUADS: As rifle squad but only 7x AK-47. Mech squads use BTR-50PKs, motor use BTR-152/BTR-60P or PB/ OT-64C SKOT. Higher organisation as above.

SUPPORT TEAMS:Mainly organised at battalion level and deployed as needed. PKM MMGs and DShk HMGs and 82mm mortars with 4-man teams, all but gunner have SKS. AT teams had one man with SKS and one RPG-2 or B-10 recoilless. Scout teams were 3-4 riflemen in a BTR-40 or BRDM-1.

Again, I'm not sure how the individual squads were organised, but I'd expect them not to use fire teams. One rifleman should be designated as squad leader of course.

Hope that helps.

Very interesting, with all that info you are very close to a MC supplement!
8)

Thats great work there for the Six Day War. This coming April May I am doing the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 using the BE: WaW and MC rule sets as a basis to make stats for the units.

Wow! Thanks for all the informations, it's really appreciated!
I have the planes (SO 4050 Vautour, Super Mystere B2, Mirage IIIC, MiG 17), i have some vehicles (Centurion, Egyptian sherman with AMX turret, T-34/85, JS-3, M3 Half track). I need to buy 1/72 resin cast M-50 or M-51 "Super Sherman" and AMX-13, and i will try to find appropriate figures for the infantrymen (a bit more difficult).
Thanks again :D

PS: And yes, of course, don't forget the ancestors! Syrian Panzer IV Ausf. G and StuG III Ausf. G

No problem, and you might want to take a look at the RH Models website for figures and vehicles for that period.
