Simple question: Will the old SST models be discontinued?

Oh, I missed that bit. Yeah, i'm not for discontinuing the olf minis just yet, i want an all-metal Exo platoon.

Ditto. Metal models have that nice weight advantage :P

Need 3 more boxes I think. One grizzly, 2 cougar. Will leave me with 2 cougars and grizzly spare. Well. Extra officer models are always handy to have around.

Nah. Bad idea. Could easily lead to tournaments being decided not by who is the best but who was around when old models were sold or who are willing to pay astronomical prices on ebay for them(prices would soar high for those if what you suggest would be done).

What would be an even worse idea would be to piss off all the existing customers and people who play SST, some of whom have spent hundreds on collecting armies.

MGP have said they will produce stats for all the old models to allow them to play in SST:Evo, and this will happen around the time the main rule book comes out. I am sure I remember reading this, but not sure where or when and am too lazy to go hunting. I am sure someone will correct this if I am wrong.

I would far rather that MGP release a card pack for each army at a reasonable price (around £7-8 strikes me as good for some reason) that will give us a nice box with all the cards in; than produce a PDF. If they did both I would buy the pack as long as it wasn't too expensive, and I am a cash short gamer.

With regards to the old models themselves, MGP will certainly continue to sell them till they have cleared out all the existing stock, but whether they will produce new I have no idea, but unless there is a significant demand for it I doubt it. They could of course sell the moulds and license another company to make them......

Why they wouldn't make money out of them as long as possible?

Albeit I can see why they might be hesitant about creating new mould for plastic models after old one wears down unless there's significant demand but metal model moulds are dirt cheap to produce(comparably anyway) and as long as moulds are intact it's moot point anyway.

Why would Mongoose go for GW's odd route of not taking money from customers who are willing to give it to company?

As certain person has in his sig line: Attn. GW you can make more money from me by publishing and supporting Specialist Games, supplements, model ranges, new games and old you produce it and I'll purchase it you can make money off of me!

So for Mongoose: Attention Mongoose. You can make more money from me by keeping up old models available! You produce it and I'll purchase it. You can make money off of me!

Albeit I'm not big expert on model making thingies but I would think that as long as moulds exists then keeping them available would give them more money than cost.

Molds for plastic models RARELY wear out!

With the newer mold materials used for the casting of metal miniatures, those molds are longer lasting now so cheaper too.

Even better

So I would be suprised if they DIDN'T continue them. It might be limited to online orders only but not keeping them available would cost them in sales.

The thing is (as well) is that the prepainted DON'T come out of the molds that way.

In the long run it wouldn't be unreasonable to have "painters editions" of some of the range.

They did it with Mage Knight at one point.
