I had a few games today at a nearby game store all of them victories for the Shadows, a problem did arise though during deployment (which we just rolled a d6 to solve) but I had purchased Shadow fighters (I know!) since I had some left over points. It suddenly occurred to me that I could place 1 shadow fighter on the table and then have my opponent deploy a ship. This continued on until he had deployed his entire force and I then dropped my Shadow Ships (Young) anywhere I felt like it.
We just rolled a D6 in my favor, the ruling did not grant me the win but surely helped me. Since fighters are considered Ships (as per the rulebook) and placed normally (since I purchased them) I saw no reason why it couldn't work. The people I was playing against didn't like it since they have not seen anyone do that before, hence my question. I am hoping the Guru's here can shed some insight.
Another interesting point was brought up on another thread titled "Question" saying that Shadow Fighters may deploy normally with the rest of the fleet regardless of scenario restrictions. This rule of course talking about fighters that come for free with a ship that has a Dispersal Tube. I thought the rule worked differently but after today's game I am more inclined to follow it to the letter. If this is true then it would help offset the low numbers of ships the Shadows get and help us players gain a more advantageous position on the battlefield. 8)
