Ship Crippled, Roll To Destroy ALL Traits?

8)

Roll for all traits, and they are destroyed on a 4+ mate

As he said only it's:

Roll 1d6 for each ship trait individually, on a result of 4+ the trait is lost.

e.g. A ship has both Jump Point and Flight Computer and becomes crippled, roll for traits:

Roll 1: Jump Point: Result 3 - trait retained
Roll 2: Flight Computer: Result 5 - trait lost!

This is one area of the game where it is desirable to roll low values ;)

Remember, some traits can automatically be lost, like Interceptors, and some traits can never be lost, such as Immobile. Other traits get a standard downgrade, in the case of Space Stations.

These are the only exceptions I can recollect right now; there may be more.

We play higher roll better, just makes more sense that way. Doesn't really matter as long as your opponent knows & agree's.

I believe Fleet Carrier is automatically lost upon crippling, and Command as well. You may have to double check me.

Confirmed, pg. 8 of Sky Full of Stars. But, it's even more than that.... you lose Command and Fleet Carrier automatically if you are Skeleton Crewed, as well! Either condition is enough.

Never knew that one until today. Amazing what happens when you RTFM.

Crippled: Turns reduced by 1 (to a minimum 1), half speed, only 1 weapon system per arc may be fired, lose Command, lose Fleet Carrier, lose interceptors, each trait is lost on 4+

Skeleton Crew: No special orders allowed, lose Command, lose Fleet Carrier, only 1 weapon system per turn may be fired, all DC checks at -2

Like I said, roll for 'All' traits. Not make one roll, for all traits. Why is it when one person asks a question on this forum, he gets the correct answer. Then everyman, and his dog attempts to see if they can out do each other, with as many 'Other' answers related to the problem. He asked nothing about move/turn penalties, or interceptors. He just asked about traits, sheesh

Which is bit unintuitive. And actually seems like we have been playing it reverse

Well. 4+ trait lost, 4+ trait kept. As long as players are in agreement about it BEFORE the roll doesn't matter either case.

Actually, we always intended (though it doesn't really matter) for your opponent to roll it, so he is effectively rolling to destroy your traits :)

It all depends on whether you consider it a damage roll or a save roll.

Sorry but as far as I understand it the meaning could have been "all at once"
which was how I understood the question.(so 1 throw for all traits)
Saying every/each trait is deleted on 4+ sounds different from
all traits on 4+.

Maybe only my poor english ;)

"Roll for all traits, they are destroyed on 4+" is what you wrote. That could be read either way. It could mean one roll, to lose or save all traits, or it could be one roll per trait. Hash merely clarified what you wrote.
