Combined list of weapon traits?

Joe Trader

Mongoose
(My apologies if this has already been asked - I did try to search first)

Where can I find a comprehensive list of all weapon traits and their effects? I see traits in the Field Catalogue that are not mentioned in any of the other books that I have (CRB 2022, CSC) - which is SUPER annoying, by the way. May I suggest that the next iteration of the CRB lists all weapon traits, pretty please with sugar on top? And that the PDF of that is made available to those of us who already bought one, of course :)

Or perhaps, maybe Mongoose could make a free download PDF on their website that is a simple list of weapon traits, that can be continuously updated and expanded as new supplements are created for the ruleset, so that there is always a single document that has them all in one place that can be downloaded anytime.

May I suggest that traits found in the Field Catalogue and not found elsewhere are all merely rumours and not actual facts in your game. It will be up to the players to venture to unknown parts of the Official Universe, in order to discover actual implementations. Just an idea.

Thanks. But paying (quite a bit of money) for a book and not being able to use all of the information in it (specifically: guns that are different from the generic ones in the CSC), and not even finding a hint about where I can find the missing information makes me kind of regret I bought the book. You are right, of course, that maybe, someday, I or someone I play with may happen to find the book(s) with the missing information, and then we could potentially buy (the PDFs of) those books, but... no thanks.

I always associate the Field Catalogue with the Mercenary Box set and the Specialist Forces book, because, like it says, is for gear the ordinary Traveller is unlikely to encounter. Only that will set the Traveller Referee back even further, financially.

The designer of the Field Catalogue clearly didn't read the CSC and didn't spend any time trying to make them compatible. You won't find the magical product that aligns them because it doesn't exist. I'm sorry, but this is the reality. Like you, I invested in the Mercenary box set, and, in large measure that was a mistake. War by spreadsheet doesn't interest me, so large portions of the core books are of no value. The Field Catalogue is an orphan that doesn't work with the rest of MGT 2.0. The mercenary tickets are pretty anodyne.

It's hit and miss.

Mostly miss.

The most obvious weapon that would be attempted would be the advanced combat rifle, and it can't be reconciliated.

It wasn't a total wash, I got a Halloween game out of the "healing" fungus ticket (Map of the facility in the Custom Ships thread), and one of the players got his selectable magazine shotgun, so he can mix incendiary and slug rounds.

"Late" is them putting out a bad product and then making us wait years for them to fix the garbage that they published in the Field Catalog.

"On time" would have been putting out a good product the first time.

The solution to this is simple. Do not put out garbage products.

Sounds like the PoC ("Proof of Concept") was either minimal or went a bit awry, prior to release. Hopefully that won't be an issue with Mg Pioneer, as that is being play tested before any product commitment is being made.

It's why producers like cranking out movie sequels, rather than original works.

Outside of copying mistakes.

The weapon mechanics only become obviously flawed after some experimentation.

Vehicles fell apart almost immediately.

Only if the creators/publishers of said material were lazy and did not do their due diligence to make sure that the product they are putting out actually does what it is supposed to do.
