Ship Base Size Chart

Mongoose
Hey, all, I'm creating some decals for the bottoms of some ship bases and frequently reference the ship base size chart to see what's what.

Unfortunately, it seems to have been removed from the Downloads section of ACTA. Does anyone happen to have it hosted elsewhere?

Thanks!

Wererogue, you should talk to Humbaba - he has some great templates/decal thingies under his minbari ships. They look really cool.

Thanks, Chern. I've done some nice looking stuff myself. I'll see if I can't get some pics up sometime.

BTW, can someone tell me the base size for the WS Gunship? It's not on the official chart.

Thanks again for all the help, guys!

Large base same as Omega class destroyer..

My problem is that sometimes the images shown in the 1e fleet book show incorrect base sizes.

And, then we get ships mailed out with incorrect base sizes. For example, my Shadows Fleet box had nothing but large bases in it - not good for my 6 small based Scouts.

Do you think this will all be corrected following 2e?

you're not alone. My ISA fleet box came with all large bases, for the white stars. Not really concerned though, personally I think the smaller mongoose base is really too small for anything. I use GW small flight bases instead, I've mounted my Chronos on those. The white stars I mounted on large mongoose bases, and the big poseidon is going on a large GW base.

I just don't worry about "base sizes" as told by Mongoose because they are generally all wrong on their photos. I just use the bases that will support the ship the best and ignor the base size chart.

I've really got no problem with that, but some of my opponents don't like the "advantage" it gives to have the larger than normal bases.

I suppose that can be somewhat countered by my decals since they have a border around them, and, I suppose, might be something to look into since I have a ton of GW small bases.

Seconded!

studio models are painted and based by the painter.. where as sold models are in theory supplied with the right size base.. but from what i cna tell the chart was mainly made to help combat people who changed there base size smaller so as ot make it harder to hit them..

most people are using GW bases in some for or another..

hmm, be nice is MGP would comment on this, or if someone has the 2nd ed book, and look to see if it has anything in it..

I don't have a problem with "upsizing" the base (going from MGP to GW, for example), though some players don't want to give their opponents that extra leeway in targetting their ships.

I would, however, have a problem if someone brought out their Omega on a small size base.
