But he has no rule which overrules the generic rule that admirals must be placed on the highest PL ship.Taran said:Burger said:Sheridan is listed under the Admirals section. He is a special case of an Admiral, so all the admiral rules apply to him also.
Exactly. He's a SPECIAL CASE of an admiral. HIS rules take precedence when using him as opposed to the generic rules for generic admirals.

if the admiral in question was sheridan, and the highst PL ship you field is a white star carrier (which sheridan cannot go on)
can you use sheridan on the next highest PL ship (ie a white star) or can the admiral not join this battle??
thanks in advance.
Sheridan would go on the highest PL ship he was permitted to ride in.

What special case?Taran said:In which case I'm right and the Special Case rules overrule the general rules...
That's good, because otherwise, Sheridan would not have been able to be fielded in any game between Raid and Armageddon level in an ISA fleet.

Yeah, thats what they said about SFoS... Armageddon... 2e...Taran said:Burger said:/sigh... Rules As Written goes out the window yet again.
Not so much. They just got clarified this time as to which rule in the same part of the rules takes precedence when.
The RAW are quite unfortunately riddled with unclear concepts that will hopefully be cleared up with the next book they publish...
It's still better than 1st ed. and although playtesters picked up loads of minor points (which all of your points are, at least grammatically), we're never going to get everything. Basically we made sure that the major concepts were as watertight as we could make them and try to spot as many smaller issues as possible.Taran said:Don't want to piss of mspange, but perhaps a different author is called for? Or maybe better editors? Or maybe choose a few Mongoose Infantry to give "Beta versions" of the next book to and see what questions they come up with...
