Sereved limbs...

Mongoose
Mongoose have no official rules for severed limbs. You can take a 1000 points of damage to your unprotected arm, and it will still hang there. This is something I assume everyone will houserule, and bring severing rules back into their game.

THe question is, how can it be regrow again? Chalana Arroy has no Regrow Limbs spells (or any other special healing spells for that matter). Is there any published spells that would do the trick, or will we have to make some up?

Why not make a MRQ regrow and heal and give them to Chalana Arroy, I don't see why they can't have these spells as they did before.

Firstly, I intend to let PCs use a Hero Point to make a roll to avoid having one of their limbs chopped off, which would cut down on losing limbs. Otherwise, or if the roll fails, I would say that a limb cut down to -100% of its hit points is permanently lost unless a Resilience roll is made, modified by the amount of damage taken. If an arm takes 1000 hit points of damage, I don't think anybody will be able to make that Resilience roll.

I would take into account how much damage is done, and how the damage is done in adjucating the exact effect.

For Glorantha, it is easy enough to give characters a Regrow Limbs spell. Maybe make it 4th Magnitude. Such a spell could be available in the Iron Kingdoms as well.

Another option would be to allow for artificial limbs. In Runequest Modern, PCs could get bionic body parts, like the Six Million Dollar Man, although doing so would require contacts, and there could be miscellaneous problems. In the Iron Kingdoms, it makes sense that Arcane Mechaniks could make iron arms, although these would probably be larger than normal human arms (to make room for all the machinery), require coal to operate, and look rather grotesque. On the other hand, they could also be designed to be stronger than normal, and have special attack modes or other qualities, not to mention having the hardness of iron.

In Glorantha, perhaps someone can animate a clay arm or something and magically attach it to the body.

Okay, I remembered wrong, they have sever rules for limbs, just not head and thorax. No problems with limb chopping then! :D

Or I can use it to have the dice re-rolled, or alter the storyline of the scenario! :? I'm not touching neither hero points nor experience points. Think I'll go with Magistus suggestion, bringing back regrow limb, and maybe also sorcery regenerate.

I understand the fear but Hero points actually work quite well and, as they' re GM-modded, are limited in scope. They can also add a great deal of fun to a game depending on how imaginative the players are.

btw Regrow Limb is listed as a Fertility cult spell and Chalana Arroy has Fertility so acquires it automatically.

How? How can hero points add a great deal of fun? I'm currently only able to see the negative aspects of hero points.

That's good! Hmm... it's been made more powerfull too, just a couple of minutes to regrow a limb. My friends dwarf with his peg-leg shop won't like that! :P
