I was pretty impressed.
Especially if you see the Navy and the Nobility as part of one big continuum that is the Imperium. Knowing how the navy functions, especially in regards to the Spinward Marches, tells you a great deal about what the Imperium's nature is there. The tensions and alliances with more commercially minded enterprises and nobles there give the best context I've seen for the Marches as an entity so far.
The actual Spinward Marches book, even with the very good overview chapters on the Imperium, didn't convey much cohesiveness to me. It seemed like lots of little bits, while they could be very useful individually for putting together adventures, randomly tucked into sectors and the introduction.
But together with Sector Navy I had a sense of how everything fits together there from an Imperial perspective.
Throw in Starports and Spinward Encounters and the aliens books...and the Marches are starting to seem a touch more like a real place to me.
YMMV. I'm not a lifetime Traveller grog. I played in the 70's. Mongoose brought me back so I'm kinda rediscovering things all over again.
