I'm just wondering if I should buy anymore Conan stuff or wait for the new version? :(

Keep buying. The new version is the same kind of rumor as 'Squats back in Warhammer 40k' or 'Duke Nukem Forever is coming out this year'.

wishful thinking :)

So mongoose still has not said anything other than mentioning it a GENCON? :?

It's stated up further in the thread by someone un-official, and I think that's about as official as it's going to get for now.

Basically, what we can gather fromt he entry in the Mongoose store is that it's a Hyboria book for the RQ system - that's it. There's no apparent sign of it being anything but that, and there's definitely no sign of the D20 line ending any time soon.

This is my advice: If you love RQ and want to use that system, wait and see what happens. If you like D20, get as many of the books as you can, because it's still one of the best versions of D20 fantasy out there right now. Either way, you'll be alright.

Great thanks for clearing that up.

That will take you a long time - we have no intention of stopping the current version of Conan. . .

Hurrah? :?
So...after Argos/Zingara and Shem, what's next on the horizon?

Its not a win or lose thing, no matter what system you like you can use the world books and back-round for Conan. Why do people seem to feel that if its not D20 or Not RQ then they cant use it. You can start playing with RQ in Hyboria today, all you need is the two RQ rule books, and the background books of where you want to place the campaign. When the Hyborian Age RQ book comes out your set.

don't let the lack of a lable stop you from doing what you want.

I'm currently running Conan in the OGL system and its not only a very well written game, especially the region books (The editing still needs a little work.) but its also one of the best takes on D20 I have ever played. That being said once this campaign comes to an end I will be running something different, not d20 based just to change things up a bit, I may even try Conan with the RQ system, perhaps in Turania, I'll just have to wait and see.

Certainly that could've been posted on this thread long ago and saved a lot of trouble.

Um...did you check out the link?

It was posted 09-27-2006, 02:36 AM, so it is therefore unlikely that it could have been posted here before that.

Um...do you think they knew this some time ago? Quite likely, and could have stopped the rampant speculation back then

After the amount of money I've invested in the current OGL Conan line, I'd be pretty miffed if this came to pass.

I'm not going to fly off the handle based on hearsay, but if this became reality, I'd simply stop purchasing products for the line all together.

It's odd though. In my opinion, Mongoose has done a wonderful job of capturing the feel of of the Hyborian world using the D20 system. I wouldn't understand the desire to convert it to another system when there are so many established fans of this one, particularly when the switch might cause some of the customer base to vanish. And while I don't know enough about Runequest to say this for certain, I have a feeling that the number of people who start to play a Runequeswt based Conan wouldn't be nearly as many as the number they risk losing.

Just doesn't make sense to me.

Well, you'll have to read a little bit more of the thread.

What is indicated above, from that other forum board, is that Mongoose intends to put out a Hyboria sourcebook compatible with Rune Quest, but has no intention of dropping the D20 Conan line at all. They've invested too much to give up on it, but with the growing popularity of RQ (and probably an affinity for it in the Mongoose design halls) the Hyboria book jsut gives fans of that game system the ability to run Conan themed games too.

That's all.

Don't sweat it.

Ah, excellent!
Thanks.

I've been out of the loop from the boards for a while, so when I saw the thread, I got anxious.

I feel better now : )

Here it is for this page. :)
