RQ2 preview?

One of my players used to gather up his 2D10, 1D20 and whatever damage dice and throw them at once. It was always a bit of a climb-down when he failed to score a hit and thus had his 1D20 and damage dice utterly redundant.

But that was a personal preference for him and as GM I never minded. I've also had players who prefer to roll one dice at a time because they think that can somehow make a real difference to the outcome. Again, it bothers me little.

But certainly its not something that needs codifying into the rules.

Metametametametagamers
I have thrown all dice together sometimes, and one dice at a time, indistinctly. I think it is not important.
This post has made me think about SR. Will be necessary to throw 1D10 each assault?

No - only if something changes the entire combat dynamic or initiative sequence. You can roll SR and use the sequence for the entire combat if you wish. Or, as the previous poster was musing, drop the random element altogether and run in SR order as per character sheet and creature/NPC calculations. However, removing that random element will make combat far more predictable in terms of order, which might not be to everyone's taste.

Bummer, I was hoping for color not B&W...

Looks good!

Nothing really new in content from has already been revelealed, but the presentation is much clearer and cleaner, both in terms of layout and writing it seems.

I eagerly await the next preview.

I like what i have read in the preview. Look forward to reading more on Combat Styles and the magic chapters.

The art looks good in the preview. The last art piece in the Runes section caught me by surprise  until I realized she was using the Runes to conjuring some clothing. .

I just like to be told what to do!

Anyway, with regards to the first point - rather than see the D20 and damage dice as 'redundant', I see it as adding to the narrative. That is, rather than just seeing the result as a 'miss', you get to say "it just missed the right leg with a thunderous cleave....."

The preview looks good by the way..

A very good way of looking at it.

Nice preview. From what little I can see the combat rules look excellent.

You have my interest...

I noticed no typos  ...but the print seems to vary in darkness, in some lines the type is lighter than others (on my computer). That's just the preview, right?

A question. I see persistence and resilience are still present. Have the rules for using them altered significantly? In particular, are poisons handled the same way?

Thanks in advance, if you have time to answer.

The ways in which they are used has changed in some cases. There's perhaps a little less reliance on Persistence as the sole 'willpower/intuition' capability.

Poisons and diseases have changed considerably.

To nitpick, I think I spotted two typos.

* Page 66, Clothing, Riding Boots: "reinforcement in the soul" should be sole.
* Page 82, Combat, Eadric's Saga, 2nd line: "the underground layer" should be (methinks) lair.

Other than the typos, nice preview. Looking forward to MRQ2.

Don't know about you, but when wearing riding boots, I always feel more enlightened... ;-)

Yes, I noticed that one too (but too late). My bad.

I see the linen armor is still here. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, judging by the picture I imagine it's still going to be 3points of armor.

Why is cloth armor worth so many points?

I feel as though I'm missing something.
