Any plans for more Career focused Traveller rulebooks?

Emperor Mongoose
We have already seen the Traveller: Explorer's edition and the Traveller: Merchants edition is due out for print this month, but the question remains if there are any plans for more of these Career focused starter rulebooks this year or sometime in the future?
It would be quite nice to see a Far Future Citizen's edition and/or a Psion's edition. Maybe others have other ideas on their mind.

Marketed as a hook to get more people to join, by teasing them with their favourite, or preferred character trope(s), especially since you can subdivide careers.

Remember, artwork, since it's mostly visual.

To assist visualization.

Explorer's is basically the Scout one.

We have two that cover CT Career books. Army and Marine were combined, so...
Mercenary edition
Navy Edition

and, with the exciting upcoming new book...

PIRATES' EDITION!!!

You know you want to, Matt...
Make it £0, and encourage it to be stolen... ;)

At the risk of thread necromancy...

Would a Rebel career be its own thing, a specialty of Rogue or a specialty of Drifter?

It wouldn't be a Citizen.

It is a possible career.

Since Mongoose likes to triptych it, you could either do it by ideology (means and methods), and/or function (roles).

If we go by function, foot soldier, staff, and support.

Rebel was a career option in TNE.

Several Mongoose careers would work well: Agent (Intelligence), Drifter (Wanderer), Entertainer (Journalist), Merchant (Broker). Any of the Rogue branches could be political rather than regular criminals.

A lot of careers have events that can pull the character into that world. Anything that puts you into Prisoner could be related to civil unrest (some of them are even stated to be).

Blake's 7 starts with the characters meeting on a prison transport and goes from there. If you're setting up an active rebellion campaign you could do worse than copy that - have the players roll up normally but any failed survival rolls become "sent to prison", and anyone *actually* sent to prison by event stops generation there. If a player chooses to stop prior career... they muster out but get picked up by the Heat as they step out of the pension office...

"You walk into a spaceport bar" is replaced by "you're all looking at the other restrained prisoners in the holding cells".

(Come to think of it... this is also an Elder Scrolls start... )

Further to Blake's 7, the backgrounds of the original crew are:

Roj Blake - Leader of a civil protest movement turned resistance movement who was jailed and brainwashed then jailed again after overcoming that. I have an idea he *might* have been an academic before all that, but the show didn't go into it much IIRC. If he was a regular citizen he would have been a Management type. Great leadership skills.
Kerr Avon - computer expert caught embezzling. Very high INT and EDU.
Oleg Gan - Pretty much a worker bee citizen who was convicted of killing a Federation officer that killed his girlfriend. High STR, low INT.
Vila Restal - Rogue (Thief). Legitimately arrested for the thief thing. Low SOC.
Jenna Stannis - Free trader pilot legitimately arrested for smuggling. High DEX.

Zen - Self aware computer of the special ship they find.

Cally - token telepathic alien who joined later and was never a convicted criminal. Effectively an Army and/or Psi Warrior career.

All pretty standard Traveller crew stuff.

Just imagine if Mongoose could get the Blake's 7 licence for a Traveller based rpg...

I mean if Modiphius can get Space 1999..

I would think the difference in having a specific career (path), would be the ease in transition between subcareers.
Not according to all Careers and Assignments. Pg 20 Changing Assignments says for Agent, Citizen, Entertainer and Merchant Careers, a New Assignment is effectively a New Career.

Because the creator has his own website and his son maintains his legacy, so the idea has potential momentum. Not sure Terry Nation has the same level of fan base to turn his creation into a game.

Feels very Seventies British science fiction.

The audio dramas are updated.

I think you can pay homage to it, as opposed to ripping it off, more because it would be out of sync.

They released dvd/blu ray remastered series 1 last year, series 2 just went up for pre-order on Amazon.

To be honest, I never did get a chance to watch Blake's 7.
I pretty much watch the entire 4 season run every few years (even struggle through the poor season 4 for the stunning show finale, Avons final smirk sums up the entire vibe of the show imho)
