RQ and RQ Pirates

I have a few questions:

1. Can you use the basic weapon skills with weapons that you're not proficient in?

example: I have weapon skill 1H sword and bow. I find a hammer. Can I use my basic melee weapon skill to use the hammer? Is there a negative or just no bonus?

2. Can you use Professions from the RQ and Companion in RQ Pirates (default setting, not fantasy pirates)? I can see some munchkins trying this.

3. Are the Background and Profession tables combined or separate in RQ Deluxe? ie. are there different tables for those from RQ and then another for the Companion? I guess I'm asking are the books integrated into one large book, or just all three bound together with no re-editing?

1. You can use any basic skill at the starting amount. This includes weapons. Advanced skills you have to learn first.

2. Entirely up to the GM as to what he allows.

3. The tables are combined in Deluxe.
