Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

For those who still did not know it, I announce here that after our successful RuneQuest supplement Stupor Mundi, Alephtar Games is about to release Rome: Life and Death of the Republic., by none less than Pete Nash! Preview available on the left side of the linked page.

Rome is a supplement for Basic Roleplaying, but it can be easily played with RuneQuest, too. In fact, it even has an alternate character sheet with RQ-like skill bases.

The proof copy has just received green light, so release is absolutely confirmed for end of May in both PDF and printed format. If you attend Tentacles or have a friend who does, you can pre-order by following the link above to ensure you get a copy and take advantage of a discount.

Of course, we have not forgotten RuneQuest, either. The second episode of Stupor Mundi is coming later this year, and it will use the Mongoose ruleset.

Thank you for your patience, dear fans. The lucky fellows at Tentacles, already have their copies, but now you can order yours, too! BRP Rome is now available at the Alephtar Games Lulu.com StoreFront.

EU customers can also order from the Chaos Society.

The PDF version will be online in a matter of days.

I also wish take advantage of the announcemente to thank again Fabian and all the Tentacles crew for twelve years of enjoyment. I am specially proud that the debut of Rome has been among the events of this closing edition!

Hi,

Rome looks wonderful, well laid out, dynamic, informative and useful. A really exciting project. I sat in on the launch party at Tentacles Convention, and Pete Nash really knows his stuff. The book is set in the pre-imperial era, from the foundation, through the kings of Rome, the rise of the senate until the first Emperor appears. It is a rich, bloody and diverse setting, which will be novel to many players and GM's a like. The book is full of really good background material from the serious matter of politics and war, through the dark world of Roman cults and magic (which has been very well thought out) to the deadly chariot races and funeral games. The book is about Rome, the city and has some of the best maps I have seen. I understand the that both the cartography and latin have been checked by high academics for detail and they were impressed.

The art in the book is by Dario Corallo or uses stock art as far as I could tell. However I did not get to possess a copy, as when I tried to hunt down both Andre and Paolo to throw money at them they could not be found. So I had to curl up in bed with a mates copy instead.

I'd just like to add that Alexandre Togeiro, a Brazilian artist, also contributed some excellent pictures, including a lovely cut-away illustration of a Roman house; and an epic duel between Torquatus and a Gallic champion (my favourite).

Although most of the stock art are vintage images, they not only give a vibrant feel to the subjects they accompany, but are often excellent pieces of art in their own right.

Thank you for a pretty staggering review! (the cheque is in the post...) :D
