The Rogue Trooper Kickstarter is now live!

You can visit it at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1990654819/2000ad-rogue-trooper-miniatures-game

Based on the 2000AD comic strip, the Rogue Trooper miniatures game has been designed to let players take part in the clash of Nort vs. Souther on the shattered world of Nu-Earth.

This game very much needs your support, so we hope you will join us over the next month to see how it develops. Like the Judge Dredd miniatures game, the first draft of the rulebook is already available on the Kickstarter page for you to review!

Have already posted on local games clubs......

Dakka Dakka done........

Where else can you promote this? I want stretch goals destroyed!!!!

I was going to hold off until I saw more of what's on offer when we hit the stretch goals - but I couldn't resist and couldn't wait.

Let's hope the pledges keep coming in, then maybe later I'll move from Kapitan to Major...

Been pimping this wildly to my friends, both online and in "real life" - so hopefully a few will chip in at some point.

Gone for Major Myself!!

I've pumped it onto a page for our local games club (one of the ones in Cambridge)

Cheers for the pimping, guys, it seems to be having an effect, as we have already met the initial goal, and passed two stretch goals!

Nort players will be enjoying their elite Assault Squads (equipped with plenty of Death Blades!), and both sides can now properly be commanded by a range of Officers.

We are now thundering towards the next stretch goal, the Nort Skorpion Battlewagon (available in three variants, with Missile Rack, Barrage Mortar, and as an Infantry Fighting Vehicle - get a small squad of assault troops in there, and they'll make it into combat!), and we have posted details of what is coming next - Souther Lazooka Teams and Nort Snipers, including the elite Black Dome shooters!

Ok, I bite the big one. Haven't boughten a decent miniature game in a while.

Was holding out for Blue Shift for a kickstarter.

Oh, well.

Now the waiting game begins. Me trying to be patient until the figures arrive.

Same here about holding off, was waiting for end of month so i know whats involved. But couldn't wait, and just jumped in at Major's level (i'm after the freebee's :D , though the 10 sets don't hurt).

Shame it's not 15mm (i did promise myself i wouldn't start any 28mm games this year (or in future :? ), but   It's Rogue Trooper :!:

And Nort all the way (please look at the hood lens, there not goldfish (or are they :?: )

The first vehicle has been unlocked for the Rogue Trooper miniatures game as a stretch goal - the Nort Skorpion Battlewagon, a vehicle that comes with either missile or mortar secondary weapons, or as an Infantry Fighting Vehicle. We are now less than £2,000 away from the next stretch goal, the Souther Lazooka teams that will soon earn the respect of Skorpion drivers!

i was eager for this KS, but i think i will sit it out due to no love for the other levels and just the Major level, thats what i liked about the dredd KS as you got a few bits and pieces here and there at most levels, best of luck.

I agree there is nothing to encourage those on lower levels of pledges to pledge a bit more.

I'm not that interested in buying enough for an army, but I might have pledged for a couple of troops boxes and a few character/special figures.

I'd agree that some character-model bonuses at Kapitan would make things more enticing for people to get on board, especially seeing as pledging at that level might only get you some Rogues, two vehicles and one squad. And let's face it, once you were in at Kapitan, you'd start thinking about getting a few more squads and then Major becomes inevitable (3 vehicles and a whole Platoon, plus extras)... I know that's what happened to me with Wally Squad and Council of Judges!

To be honest, while the 3 existing minis and the new vehicle renders are all mouth-watering, what this Kickstarter really needs to, errmm, kickstart it is some images of good spot-on character greens (and not commendable but not-right try-outs) to get the ol' stim-packs flowing. With the Dredd project you could already see that you were getting a big range of largely excellent models, and could expect that the new sculpts would be of similar quality (as it turned out I think the best of the new stuff exceeds much of what went before, particularly the new box-sets). This time the only figures on display are ones that many Dredd veterans will already be getting as part of last year's pledge - so there's a lot more blind trust involved, unless you're only it for Sandrine's excellent designs.

Take the plunge and give us sight of some new must-have characters, and the Squaxx dek Thargo will be unable to resist. It would also show that Mongoose has enough confidence in the range to spring for new sculpts in advance.

I suppose what I'm saying is: show us yer Stammels.

Well, what I was going to suggest is that once the vehicles get unlocked, that they might have some stretched goals that just add the number of models one gets at each level.

Say
30,000 every pledge gets 1 additional unit
35,000 every pledge gets 1 additional unit (total 2 additional units at this point)
40,000 every pledge gets 1 additional unit (total 3 additional units at this point)

etc.

Would it be possible to add a human-sized model to the CGI renders of the vehicles? At the moment, it's hard to see how big they're supposed to be.

I'm actually considering dropping my Rogue Trooper pledge to the £100 level, (sorry to be a curmudgeon btw), as there are nowhere NEAR the incentives to do a "big pledge" that there were for the Judge Dredd KS - my thinking is why bother "pushing the boat out" now, when you can get some stuff early then just "add on" at your leisure later on . . . . . . .

Must admit Drew I am kind of shocked how over the weekend gone the KS has sort of stalled. maybe we are too impatient and want updates every couple of days and lots of Stretch incentives :D

But considering what I pledged for the Dredd KS and what I got out of it, I cannot see me receiving the same return on the Rogue Trooper KS.

Is that greedy? is that what we as gamers are now expecting from kickstarters?

Perplexed :?

Mongoose set the standard with the Judge Dredd Miniatures Game Kickstarter, but as it stands with Rogue Trooper I see no 'reason' to pledge big, as it's all going to be available at a later Date - and even though it might cost a little more, you can at least buy things at a slower and more financially convenient pace.

It's a very competitive space too, with well established existing ranges of outstanding minis, and well designed, innovative rule sets already quite common in the marketplace (though rarely both together in the one company it sometimes seems). A new game has to really zing in at least one of those categories to get cut through, or alternatively the KS needs to be extraordinarily generous. It was certainly the later that got our gaming group interested in Dredd.
