Random Babbel about Fleet Lists

Does anyone else have a fleet that consists of not necessarily what you planned, but what you could get cheap? My money for my hobbies is very limited so I kinda go with the most I can afford rather that what I planned.

As little as 2 days ago I planned to start my fleet with a Xill, a Ikorta, and a pair of Tiraca from a place I found them cheap. Then the prices changed.

Instead, I'm starting my fleet with a Xill and a Tashkat.

Am I the only one that lets the discount bin dictate their fleet/army lists?

Buy fleet action scaled Mini's if you can. They are much less expensive.

I got two of my fleets that way: I started my Minbari buying the old fleet of a friend I´ve played B5Wars with, and my EA fleet when a guy from the local gaming club found out he didn´t like ACTA (I pity the fool... )

Any advice on where to get FA scale ships? I found the old AOG site that appears to still be selling. But I thought they went out of business in 2002[/quote]

You can still get FA Scale ships through there.

i got my fleet as special sale because the shop stoped selling ACTA, the reason was the poor support. 45$ for the Vree Fleet box.

I just bought my EA Fleet so that I could take part in a large campaign. Thetys, Orestes and older hulls for patrol duty, Omegas and newer ships for assaults on enemy positions. After ARMA got out I had to scrap the most part of my old ships. I think the new 3 fleet lists for EA are a bit to restrictive

I have a mix of the larger size fleets and the smaller AOG (fleet action) ships, the smaller ships look better, are more in scale with each othr, look better on the table, are quicker to paint and far cheaper to collect. The only downside is that the company no longer makes them and is just selling off old stock, so there will never be any new ships. You can get around this with a little conversion work or buy buying the odd model from another range

or you can cast them by yourself if you have expierence with moldmaking and casting....a good way to keep the FA scale minis alive.. for your own usage, naturally 8)
