Quickly Collecting a ISA Fleet

Hi, I'm new to ACTA (great time I chose to start eh?) and was wondering, in light of the models being withdrawn from sale, what I would need to buy to have a decent or powerful ISA fleet. I was thinking the ISA Fleet box perhaps bulked up with some White Stars and an extra Victory or two. Oh, and a Babylon 5 as a sort of 'headquarters for the fleet :).

Any advice people?

PS - If I don't buy before March 31st, what are my chances of picking stuff up on eBay?

White Stars. More White Stars. And then a few more White Stars.

Then get a couple blisters of Blue Stars, a Gunship or 2, and a White Star Carrier.

And don't forget a Liandra. Solid ship.

Throw in a few League, Earth, Narn or Minbari units for allies, make sure you have plenty of fighters and buy a couple more White Stars, after all the ones you've already been advised to get.

Don't buy the Gunship or Carrier, though. They're abominations.

Do you mean the models or their performance on the board?
If the former, I won't argue, much.
If the latter, remember the award you just put yourself in for...

If you can find one of the old (blue coloured) ISA fleet boxes they are incredible value - 10 White Stars and two Victories. A few Blue Stars, a WS carrier and a few fighters and you are made.

The models, and the entire concept. I don't know how they perform, I've never used them or seen them used...

Next time you're over, I can show you personally :P

I find them quite cool and like the concept of the Gunship and also find both of them very effective ships.

I would start with 2 boxes of ISA. You can choose either the current fleet or the 1 each of the new fleet and the old (which included 10 WS and 2 Victorys). Then I would add a White Star Carrier, a Sharlin/Taralin and a Victory (unless you got them in your fleet box).

The old fleet boxes are still available from Leisure Games in North London so my advice would be to get 1 of each.

Then round off with a couple of Nolotars/Liandra and enough fighters to fill all the appropriate hangars.

Season with allies as you see fit. Narn, EA and Gaim are popular choices but whatever floats your boat really.

Going a little overboard on cost (i.e. keeping it under £110/$220) I'd get a 5 FAP fleet at War PL with a Victory on top as follows:

1 x ISA boxed set
6 x White Star
1 x Victory
1 x White Star Carrier
1 x Liandra
1 x Nolo'Tar
1 x White Star Fighter blister
(and a blister of Thunderbolts if you want to round out the Victory's fighters)

If you want to keep things under £75/$150 (giving you 5 FAP at War PL including the Victory) then I'd go for:
1 x ISA boxed set
1 x Nolo'Tar
1 x Liandra
1 x Victory
2 x White Star
(and a blister of Thunderbolts if you want to round out the Victory's fighters)

Each of those fleets gives you good flexibility at all PLs up to War and allows you the choice of almost anything the ISA has to offer.

They're not blue, they're black cover wraps on the one I have.

But yes, 10 WS and 2 VCDs is great value.

You can never have too many White Stars.

I don't suppose they have a website....

Edit:Nevermind I found it http://www.leisuregames.com/cgi-bin/ss000001.pl?REFPAGE=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.leisuregames.com%2F&SS=ISA&ACTION.x=0&ACTION.y=0&PR=-1&TB=A&SHOP=

And the box set only has 9 whitestars.

Right, I'm definately going to get the original box set from Leisure Games, and this is my intended lineup:

X1 Interstellar Alliance Fleet Box Set (Original)
X6 Blue Stars
X5 White Stars
X1 Sharlin
X1 Babylon 5
X1 Nolo'Tar/X1 Liandra

any comments?

PS - my student loan installment comes through on the 31st, so may JUST be able to catch the end of the sale!

PPS - I'm only getting the B5 as I want to, at least symbolically, give my Army of Light a headquarters :D

Add a WS Carrier and a WS Gunship to that. I assure you, there are times you'll want them...
And don't forget a pack or 2 of White Star Fighters and some Nials, Flyers, Thunderbolts...

Revised List (as I can't get the original box set as I wanted)

- New Box Set
- 2 Victories
- 1 Liandra
- 2 Sharlins
- 6 White Stars
- 1 Babylon 5
- 2 Flights of Starfuries
- 2 Flights of Nials

I am not sure you want 2 Victory class unless you usually / think you are going to play really big games.........one should do it.

Even one in a game means it wil take a good few hours.................

The Liandra comes two to a pack so just use them as either Nolatars and/ or Liandra (as long as opponents know). Rather than the Sharlin be tempted to get a Ashinta and a Leshath - very useful allies............

I would get a Carrier and a Gunship as they are good ships (but then I would also convert the whole lot into shadowtech so maybe ignore me  )

have fun!

Random thought. While Leisure games does have the old ISA boxes there shipping costs will kill you. $50 US to ship to me on the east coast. Now for a package the size it is that is quite excessive.

luckily I live in the UK :D

Ok so you buy it and ship it to me then. Seriously it should only cost like $15 to ship it here and that's at the maximum limit. I've shipped larger packages of warhammer stuff to the UK for that cost.
