questions about battles

Mongoose
Hello,
I come from Greece. I was reading Lone Wolf in the 80's, so I'm glad there is there is an RPG now with the same, simple rules.

On page 43 I read: ' Only one bonus should be applied to any test, so players cannot simply add bonus after bonus'.

So, I have some questions:

1) Ganging Up(-19-): My character is in combat with an enemy who is already fighting one other character. So, he gets +2 bonus. This bonus is for the the first combat round only or for the whole battle?

2) If my character has Weaponskill (+2 bonus) or Mindblast (+2 bonus), does he get another +2 bonus, because of the Gangin Up rule, as in the above example? Reading the rule for one bonus on page 43, I understand, that he can't get a second bonus.

3) Engaging many enemies: Two enemies are fighting my character, so each one of them gets +2 bonus. Is it only for the first round of combat, like the first question?

4) If I use Weaponskill can I use Mindblast in the same round of combat?

5) If I use Mindblast, can I use a shield, too?

I hope the expansions won't change the simple rules a lot and make Lone wolf more complex game.

Ok as I read things

1) as long as their are multiple attackers on the one target.

2) Yes, your Multiple Attacker Bonus is added to your normal Total Combat Skill (Base CS plus or minus any bonuses or penalties).

3) as response 1

4 & 5) all Bonuses stack, so Weapon Skill, Mind Blast, Special Items, Potions and so on.

eg. Dark Wolf has CS 19 he has Weapon Skill Broadsword and is armed with one (+2 CS), has and is employing Mind Blast against an opponent that is Not Immune to Mind blast (an other +2 CS) is using a Shield Special Item (yet an other +2 CS) CS 19 +2 +2 +2 = 25 Total CS. If he had taken a Aletha Potion he'd have an other +2 CS and He'd add the bonuses from any other Special Items he may have (Silver Helms, Magic Swords and so on), but today he only has a normal Broadsword & Helmet and doesn't like using Combat Potions.

Swift Wind has a CS of 17 he also has Weapon Skill Sword and is using a sword (+2 CS), he is also using a Shield (+2 CS) CS 17 +2 +2 = 21 Total CS so he the Kai to go next in the order of battle, If he was attacking the same enemy as Dark Wolf he would get a +2 CS Bonus from being the 2nd Attacker bring his finale total CS to 23.

Red Fox has a CS of 18 she has Weapon Skill Bow but is attacking with a Axe and Short Sword so gets no bonus from either weapon, she has no Mind Blast power so gains no Bonus from that. if she was attacking the same enemy as Dark Wolf and Swift Wind she would get a +4 CS Bonus for being the 3rd Attacker bring her finale total CS to 22.

and lastly Moon Fox with a CS of 15 goes, she has Weapon Skill Staff and is fighting with a Jo Staff and Dagger, the GM rules that a Jo Staff is close enough to get her Weapon Skill Bonus (+2 CS) CS 15 +2 = 17 Total CS. If she was the attacking the same enemy as her companions she would get a +6 Bonus from being the 4th Attacker bringing her finale total CS to 23.

If all the Kai where fighting a Drakkarim Death Knight on a Warhorse (CS 23 EP 40) they would have to gang up on him if they all wanted to survive.

and don't forget only Four Attackers can gang up on any one target, also you can't start ganging up until all enemies are already have have some one fighting them.

Hello there.

The "only one bonus" applies to out of combat tests. Combat is combat. It's not a test. The "test" applies to Luck Tests or any other Tests that can involve disciplines. So you could even use Weaponskill and Mindblast for a +4 bonus (2+2).
