Question to Mongoose Regarding The Future Or Lack Of.

BFE will survive even if its just a ruleset.
The Mongoose models aren't essential.
There is so much available at 1/72 scale.
For example: i'm putting together a 1/72 MEA Armor army currently using model kits. (T-55s/T-66s etc ).
I'm having a good buzz too.
With Pietias card i can put them on the table and kick some ass :D

Depends on what kind of troops you want for your MEA. If your looking for 1/72 scale plastic, then there is a company that makes insurgents in that scale. Can't think of the name. go to:
plasticsoldierreview.com look up modern troops, and you will find it there.
For government troops, Russians and other country troops make great MEA government forces, afterall they are supplied and armed by countries such as the US, Russian, France, and Britain.

If your looking for 20mm or 25mm there is a boatload of manufactures that make them in metal. Both Insurgents and Government troops.

I'm not sure I agree. It may not disappear, but it will take a MAJOR hit. I was only drawn to the game initially because it was prepainted. I'm too busy to paint and am not interested in purchasing bare metal/plastic proxies. I know there are others like me.

Agree 100% Especially after the quality of the mini's picked up.

True.
I'd much prefer to buy pre-painted too but......... i'm suprised myself at how much fun i'm having building and painting those tank kits.
Hadn't done a old plastic kit in 20 years lol

where are you getting 1/72 MEA infantry?
Ceasar Urban Resisters and you can use Orion Russian Federals/Chechen Rebels.

Thank God for cheap plastic soldiers!
Gonna base them on round 40k bases to boost the height.

I know I will be out if the minis are stopped being produced. The one reason I got into the game was for the prepainted ones.

ok helis were a problem

so please mongoose let us have the tanks and troops that looked fantastic pleaseeeeeee

they were fine infact more than fine...... and no realistic reason to not launch them...

unless of course the factory doing them has disapeared with the designs ;) somthing i warned people of at the begining..... if so wait a few months and find them in our local toy shop for around £1

i cant see why we cant have the MEA leader and snipers / pla snipers/ usmc stingers / and EFTF tank as well as MEA tank... evan the PLA AA jeep would be cool..

or use the time to repacage the FAV's please....

why let it rot ? why not spend some time on the invetmetn and let things still come out ? constantly makes me wish to slap my head...only excuse i can see is lack of forsight or china has run of with the designs....

Everything seemed to be going good until the air assets.
Perhaps Mongoose need to revaluate what there doing with the game. If your not happy with quality of the air units then drop them.
Go 1/72 scale for air assets.
Or perhaps drop the entire air assets and recommend third party 1/72 models for BFE.
The game badly needs to be rounded off so that each faction is playable and has 1 unit type for each faction like command, anti tanks gunners, stingers etc.
Such a shame really, great ruleset, good models and a unique game among sci-fi/fantasy dominated table top gaming :?

I still find it difficult to understand how people had a problem with the paint jobs.
Ok, their not expert paint jobs but there still very good. :)

This is not the only "excuse" for what is happening. From what little they have been able to say, another company is coming into the picture and this appears to be a part of the hold up. I have no idea who this new company is or what their relationship is to Mongoose so all we can do is wait and see.

Mongoose is a company that produces games and miniatures. This is how they make money. They are not doing this as some kind of a home business on the side, this is their livelihood we are talking about here. They have a lot of time and money invested in developing both Starship Troopers:Evolution and Battlefield:Evolution so why would they simply stop producing miniatures without having a really good reason for doing so?

We know that there have been production issues that have caused delays in the past (with both lines mind you) and they have said that they were looking at how to remedy this situation and even increase the number of releases up to one a month for each of the factions both games.

They have also said that another common complaint has been the cost of the minis and from the sounds of things this is another issue that they are trying to addres. Does this mean that when new releases start to appear the prices will drop? No idea, but at least they are aware of it and trying to do something about it.

And they have not simply abandoned either of the games. For SST:Evo they are releasing some of the minis that they had been developing before they were forced to put that line on hold, and for BF:Evo they are releasing units cards to help the players keep the game alive.

These games are not dead and they have not abandonded them, but right now Mongoose needs time to fix things so that they can give us the best game possible.

While I have no current update other than to say that negotiations relevant to BF Evo are currently ongoing, I can tell all you guys who have invested much of your hard earned cash in the game (and we really do thank you) that we have invested a huge amount, so whatever we do, we don't do it lightly or casually.

I can only ask on behalf of the company for your patience while we sort out the situation, which we are doing as we speak. Sadly in business wheels very rarely turn quickly, and months rapidly feel like years.

It's also easy to pull posts that disagree with the forum owners, but we at Mongoose rarely do that. We try and be as straightforward and honest as we can be.

Nobody said everything we do is perfect, but we try damned hard, and I think that counts for a lot. Of course if there is a perfect gaming company out there... ;)

and when all comes down to it. their doing a darn good job at it as well..
just my opinion annyway

I'm surprised you guys don't delete more posts to be honest. . . wouldn't bother me if you did. Some of these rants aren't worth the hard drive space they take up.

I just want to let you know that the silent majority is happy with the work you guys are doing. While people are certainly disappointed with delays and anxious to buy new product there's hardly a "this is a sign of the apocalypse - BFE and Mongoose are DOOMED!" mentality amongst the majority of your customers.

Hopefully you guys already know this and give the internet rants the weight they deserve as visceral reactions from a highly vocal minority.

. . . after all. . . if these forums really reflected reality. . . more boxes of product have been returned than were ever sold in the first place! LOL!!

hmm...
  • GDW? Nope, they no longer exist.
  • FASA? Nope, also gone.
  • Task Force Games? Nope, they are defunct now as well, and admittedly had their share of hiccups.
  • Avalon Hill? This would be a "NO" as well, as they are no longer the "real" Avalon Hill.
  • Mongoose Publishing? Not quite, but certainly the next best thing! 8)
For the record Old Bear, in my "neck of the woods" your efforts count for quite a lot! (Four satisfied and mostly patient customers in my household alone). Many of us appreciate your efforts, but do not take the time and effort to tell you as often as we should.

Like Soulmage says, forums are places most folks go to stir the pot and create drama (guilty myself a time or two, heheh). Speaking of which...

Or even manufactured for that matter.

*Proudly applies "Fan-Boy" badge  and puts on his asbestos undies in case any "Flame-Thrower Totin' Trolls" wander in here!* :P

At the Leeds club a regular bought several box sets as they where going cheap, think it was £5 each. Having looked at the Infantry models, they aren't all that bad. AS with most miniature they are better in the flesh than in a photograph.

The tanks, however look like toy kits, this could be to the size issues. If it is their size this can be easily fixed by basing them.

Haven't played a game yet, I'll be trying to arrange a game sometime in the future... and if I like it I may even pick up a small force.

If Mongoose do drop the game, it can still be played as lots of other companies produce modern era infantry and such. The rules from what I've heard and read seem to be very good.

I'll still hold out for it, a modern era wargame can be quite fun... their are enough films to draw ideas for missions from.

Exactly.
Thanks to Pietias cards :D

PS Mongoose should do a deal with Pietia for his cards 8)
