Our local group has just started playing ACTA 2ed. We thought we had damage and crew loss calculations down, but a situation came up yesterday that caused us to question what we were doing.
From a previous post, we know that critical hit damage caused by a double or triple damage weapon is also doubled or tripled. The question is does that double or triple critical hit damage result in that much additional crew loss?
Yesterday, a ship took a critical hit from a triple damage weapon. We deducted 3 hit points and 3 crew and then rolled on the table. The result was a Reactor Implosion under Vital Systems. The 2D6 roll was 10 resulting in 30 additional damage. The 4D6 roll was 15 resulting in 45 additional lost crew.
The total damage we deducted was 33. We weren’t sure if we should deduct 48 crew, or 48 + 30 = 70 crew. The answer will determine how we should deduct crew losses for a critical hit that does additional damage but not additional crew loss.
What’s the right answer?
Thanks,
Leadman
