prototype robot brains?

So, the rules for prototypes from the Central Supply catalog mention that computers and electronics, being much more complex are 10x normal size at TL+1 and 100x normal size at TL+2.

But the rules for robot brains just say: if it's bigger than the chassis could normally handle, it just costs one additional slot to install. Which seems a bit... off for such dramatically larger sizes. Any one have a suggestion on what a good 'size increase" slot wise would be?

Since brain SIZE is directly proportional to the brain's Compute/X rating, use this CSC ^^^ rule for calculating the physical SIZE==COMPUTE/X of robot brain for the corresponding tech level and price.

Use this RH ^^^ rule for calculating whether the robot brain SIZE==PROTOTYPE_MODIFIED_physical_SIZE will fit into the chosen robot chassis SIZE for the corresponding tech level. Then do the routine 'available slot' housekeeping.

Ie., use one rule for manufacture and purchase of brain and then the second rule for instillation and final robot assembly.

Is that any help?

That works nicely. Thanks.

Also, high guard has conscious AI's being at TL 16, as opposed to 17. I'm chalking that up to a ship, has a lot more room for subsidiary equipment, as opposed to a brain, even one for a large computer. Sound right?

Except nowhere that I have found does it actually say the Ships' Computers actually take up space. For Robot Brains, the amount of space taken up is equal to 1 Space regardless of the power of the Brain. No Robot Brain is bigger than 3 liters of volume. Even the Conscious/30 Brain only takes up 3 liters of volume or less.

I think the ship’s computers don’t take up enough space to move the needle. Maybe they’re built into stuff.

As for the robot brains, they take up slots, not spaces.
