Well in MRQ there was no real way to tell how many hands it took to wield a weapon so I always assumed the Long Spear took 2 hands. Now according to the example (although I don't count those for much) and the lack of sunder available to the Long Spear I have to assume that it's 1 handed.
Problems with this:
Its damage is 1d10+1 which is much closer to the damage for most two-handed weapons than 1 handed weapons.
Also the very low stat requirements of 5/5 make much more sense for a two-handed spear than a "Large sized" one-handed spear.
I think there are some other balance problems between the weapons too, like a pair of identical shields except the one that is easier to wield also has more AP/HP but I'll have to go double check. Probably when I'm done with everything I will post a revised weapons chart that makes a little more sense.
Also Linnen is just like Heavy Leather but only applies to some locations and is cheaper...
