Clarify:
1 is always a miss and 6 is always a hit. So why then does weak or AD-1 not negate a 6? Seems like the point of a weak weapon or a reduction wouldn't allow you to hit a high armored hull.

Just rambling....but feel free to chime in or send me to a past post.

ALSO:
Who gets the XP when a sqdn of ships take out a ship? Book doesn't say anything about a combined kill, only the ship that makes the crip/skel/kill gets the XP.

It's just supposed to be harder to hit with weak weapons, not impossible. Otherwise hull 6 ships would be invulnerable to some fighters.

Let's say 3 squadroned Vorchans are firing at an enemy ship, remember that although the squadron fire is resolved at the same time each ship is fired seperately e.g. the first one doesn't bring the enemy ship to a threshold so it gets no XP, the second cripples it and gets 1/2 XP it would for a kill and the 3rd ship destroys it and gets full XP.
