hey look I like a game with allot of terrain, but sometimes it isn't your choice at a game store, or tourney now is it? Not to mention lots of maps have tons of terrain but no 'cover' for example a small outpost with some nearby cliffs can have a ton of buildings, but if theres no rubble, no field of rocks, or forest then there isn't any cover. (at least no the kind that gives you the bonus)

Oh PS. I'm probably the only one who thinks this- but if it were me I'd make Pathfinder Squads a command asset that you add to your armies... As I dont see them regularly acting as a cohesive platoon... their scouting missions could be attached to regular units who are coming to extract them/use said data retrieved.

just me though

little terrain=EVIL
in all games excpet WHB terrain(decent amount of it) is absolutely crucial for the gameplay. halving the range or downgrading all weapon's power to compensate for those rare "frying pan" boards is not good.or something.
or tourney
find the orgs, and slap them for it. or at least complain.such terrain is simply unfair, and shpuldn't have place in tourney.

First of all, complaining to the people running the tourney would largely be bad sportsmanship... just because the terrain doesn't suit you doesn't mean it doesn't suit someone else... frankly some maps shouldn't have a large amount of terrain, do you think that battles only happen on convenient areas? Sometimes you have Vietnam and everything is cover, and sometimes you have the African campaign of WWII, and its all just sand.

But regardless my original point wasn't that maps should or should not have an abundance of cover... merely that the new cover rules are FAR more useful to the ranged armies than the bug army.

uum..no?

it's a tourney, not a funny-bunny campaign. the envromnet sould be as fair as possible to avoid any unfair perks to one of the sides. i remeber one board in a tourney(i did not participate), that was cool-looking, and so unfair that it made most ppl cringe. a well-detailed canyon with it's walls(not really steepy to allow for movement) running on both long sides. very many ppl bitched, because it was a SAFH wet dream.

You know thats not my point at all its not what I want to discuss, I think most tourneys aim for a diversity of boards/challenges... but I see your point... sadly your not seeing mine, which has nothing to do with what makes a 'good board' or 'bad board' but rather that bugs dont benefit from cover nearly so much as other races.

ok,i know. i just can't let an argument pass unnoticed
as for bugs not benefiting-you'r right. however, with plenty of cheapness in the form of warrior bugs, they don't necesarryly need it. they have good flyers/jumpers in form of the ripplers/hoppers, most units can tunnel, and warriors are throw-away meatshields anyway.big bugs could hardly use cover before, so the players developed the "screened plasma, dying warrior" tehnique, that afaik still can be applied.
