Power, emergency power, low berths and emergency low berths

Low berths have always seemed to be a Deus Ex Machina to me; in an emergency you hop in and hope for the best. The cryoberth listed in the core book states that it will last 1 week without external power.

It seems to feel like we should address just how long low berths can maintain in an emergency situation, especially now that we're now dealing with Power Points in regards to ship's design.

Good point. It should be clarified. Should be easy enough to add either something in the description or an add-on battery source to extend the capabilities to say 1yr.

Well, Howard the Duck came from space... and Aflac has a duck...

One has to wonder if the universe is playing a joke on us...

I checked both MgT1 and MgT2 and the two sets of units are about the same. The cryoberth seems a cruder unit and the low berth seems built larger for more precise freezing otherwise the same. I'm guessing in both edition one forgot to add the same note about battery backup to the low berth as well as the emergency low berth. It would be a good time to correct the error before print.
