Poseidon Class Super carrier Variant.

Hah!! I do to play against Reaverman (although not for a little bit) and as to fluky try facing off against Ad using 2ed Beam rules and watching as a Darkner destroys utterly a Tikrit and then takes out an Ochlavita and Jashakur in the ensuing blast!!!!

The problem I see with the current Chronos is that it's not fast enought to make it's guns count against beam equipped fleets, same goes for it's survivability against said fleets but as I stated my views are coloured by my less than favourable experiences with a ship that I'd truly like to use more!

Yeah, hull 6 is not as much of an advantage in 2e as it is in 1e. Likewise hull 4 is not so much of a disadvantage.

whereas it is a steady battle winner for me. I accept it's weakness against beams as part of it's overall load, as against non beams, it's interceptors, then hull 6 make it a tough cookie. In a campaign it's insanely usefull, as it's perfect for use against dilgar, vree, skirmish level drakh (cos of shorter drakh range), whist against beam heavy it just doesn't get picked.

Being a Centauri player, I never rated the Chronos. It was just VP's.
It's uses are for foe's that have neither Beams or Interceptors. Pretty much leaves you Vree & Dilgar mainly.
I like the idea of the Chronos being skirmish since it was the replacement for the Olympus which was better than a Chronos. The Marathon would be good at raid if the Crusade era was going to be all new ships. Suppose you could paint the Hyperion dark grey. I like the Marathon, Nemeisis & Apollo style models. Never very impressed with the Chronos as a model either just lacked something. What i would have crusade era as in models not current stats.
Patrol- Fighters, Myrimdon ( not sure on that model either )
Skirmish- Chronos, Delphi
Raid- Marathon, New Nova type ( The Quaser design is out there somewhere) and/or Light Carrier ship or maybe Battle
Battle- Nemeisis, Apollo
War - Warlock, Poseidon
No Armagedon ships for younger races is another.

the nemesis is not in the 2nd ed EA list, as it is a psi corp ship.
I didn't want to create to many ships thats why i put it in & they all have a similar look. Just wrote fighters as don't what exactly is coming in 2nd ed. I like the fleet list to have similar style. It's one issue i have with my Dilgar is ugly brick (begins with K) & the more predatory style. I like the mandiable looking ships far better. Even think they have sweeping forward spines from the back to be even more menacing like legs coming to grab you. Going to try & convert an Omelos to look like that. It's going to take a long time to do though.

As to the Chronos, my experiences with it colour my view but if it was given 5 more boxes of damage/crew and 2" extra speed Id be happier with the current version
Agree &/or give a missle rack. Spd not such issue if it has a rack.
Currently a Olympus can take a Chronos about the 1/3rd of time maybe more it missles get lucky hit as didn't do to many trials ( about 10 ). I'd be using either Heavy or Multi warheads & the Chronos is in pretty bad shape if it wins. I'd 2 Chronos vs 3 Oly's is close to even

Ok!, I f I understand, What tank want is a Chronos with the same stats the chronos have now but with the same missiles as the Olympus?

I like the Idea. :P
