Please give me advise

A friend is working on A Legends/1st edition DAD/1st edition WFRP Hybrid and has asked me to ask for advise

The God Morr is The God of The Dead and The Afterlife, as such he abhors undead and his followers are sworn to destroy undead if they are able, no exceptions and no mercy

So what happens if A Cleric of Morr is send to destroy what is believed to be A Vampire terrorizing A Very Remote very large Village with its Hoards of Undead Minions

But in truth its A Illusionist whose used Illusion Magic to give him the appearance of A Vampire as well as to create illusions of Undead and has done so to make the hundreds of Goblinoids in the forest west of the town too scared of the supposed Vampire and its supposed Hoards of Undead Minions to even try to attack?

Making things even worse is that this Very Remote very large Village has no permanent Cleric of Morr, no one in Morrs Church knows this and the head of the church that send The Pcs is too stubborn to listen to reason

This could end in several ways:

• The PCs investigate, find there are no Undead and go away, leaving the village to its fate.
• The PCs investigate, find there are no Undead, kill the Illusionist and leave, happy they have solved the case.
• The PCs investigate, find there are no Undead, kill the Illusionist and leave, happy they have solved the case, and the goblins that were kept away sack the village.
• The PCs investigate, find there are no Undead, drive the Illusionist away, making him a personal foe to dog them for the rest of the campaign, and leave, happy they have solved the case.
• The PCs investigate, find there are no Undead, kill the Illusionist and stay, becoming the representatives of Morr in the village.
• The PCs investigate, are completely clueless and find no Undead but also don't find the Illusionist and leave with their tails between their legs.
• The PCs investigate, find there are no Undead, kill the Illusionist and find out that a Necromancer has come to town to take control of the Undead that plague the Village
