I believe improved crit requires other feats like Focus, so that's possibly a bit complicated. I shall look into 2handed weapons... I shall think about it, definitely, at least as the solution for single tougher foes.

Nope, Improved Crit doesn't require Weapon Focus. ^^ You just need to be proficient with the weapon and have a +8 BAB. Happy hacking.
