I did some alternate builds, and a bit to my surprise, the profit margin went up as I lowered the quality of the staterooms. I know the luxury passengers had more stewards, so I half wondered, but a full load of middle passengers was a lot more profitable than High, and they were more profitable than Luxury.

I really like the personal tweak I did that let me tell it how long to make the layover. The previous set was a 5-day layover.

You have to price the luxurious suites just low enough, that the targetted clientele are willing to forego chartering a starship, if not outright leasing a yacht.
Something that might be relevant from my trip to Japan last year.
The booking for a double occupancy room was more expensive than for two single rooms (which were small but did still have a double bed. Quite Stateroom sized, actually). That seems to be a function of the hotels mostly catering for individuals travelling on business. Only a handful of double rooms are built, and so attract a premium.
That would map to standard staterooms usually being single occupancy but capable of double occupancy, and larger luxury staterooms.

I just checked by Apocrypha 1 CD and it's the Fenris (Q-ship) that carried fighters.
The original FASA design kinda cheats on passage costs. For a standard (though evidently luxurious) sized stateroom, the fee is Cr50k.

Passage for a regular stateroom costs CR 50,000. This includes one jump period or about 9 days of stay aboard the ship. The basic fee covers a l l
normal expenses including room upkeep, regular meals, use of ship's e n t e r t a i n m e n t systems, and L O O 0 CR w o r t h of casino chips. A l l other expenses such as special meals or parties, and gambling are extra. Persons of established credit and reputation are permitted credit through out their stay on the ship. Passengers desiring the same privileges as credited people usually deposit a large sum upon boarding, t h i s permits them credit until1 that money is used up.
For special people, or the very rich, there are 8 stateroom suites. These special rooms have the nomal sleeping compartment: and a sitting room or
parlor. Fares for these room range from CR 150,000 to CR 300,000. Passengers taking these rooms receive special services and care during their
stay onboard.

True. The wooden Constitution is still afloat. And the first three E's went to / are at the breakers. And the new one is still under construction by Huntington-Ingalls.
Sad they didn't turn the last one into a museum, though I understand the cost issue.
