Paranoia XP - Paranoia?

Cowboy Hat

Mongoose
Hi everyone,

I know it's a confusing title but I am a little confused!

I'm very new to the game - inasmuch as I've been a player once to an old version of the game and I've always wanted to get my hands on the game.

I've had a look around and I've been told that the current edition is Paranoia XP, however the Mongoose site is selling Paranoia (sans XP).

I am hoping that someone can tell me the difference and which is the most up-to-date edition and printing.

Thanks a lot in advance.

:D

Later printings don't have the XP tag, and have very minor tweaks to the text. Paranoia Service Pack 1 (http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/pdf/parasp1.pdf?PHPSESSID=464982137f53fbdf9687460e20c9b89d) has all the updates.

Paranoia XP is the first printing while XP was still allowed in the title.

Paranoia XP - Service Pack 1 was the updated and error fixed version with an improved index. Though the index and errors are available as a download to fix a non SP1 copy.

Paranoia Service PAck 1 is basically the same as the above with XP removed from the title.

Hope that is also of some help

yeah I think so.

I think what I'm after though is something that's not available anymore - namely the errated edition (which I believe still had xp) and is in hardback.

I believe the game is only available in soft cover now, which is a shame because I much prefer hard back books for my RPG's.

Well some FLGS may have an old HB copy, I think one of mine does.
Where in the world are you located?

But in terms of corrected content the softbacks will be SP1 and thereofre up to date.

Or of you find a really old non SP1 hardback, get that and download the corrections, it's only 3 pages, and one of those is the redone index.

living in England at the moment.

I'll probably just get the most recent version, paperback or not. It's just strange to me that it's not hardback like the others - though I imagine it's probably something to do with costs.

Well one of my FLGS has an XP SP1 hardback in stock, however, the top third or so of the cover has suffered some fading due to sunlight.

I could check the other FLGS but I don't think they have a copy of the main rulebook in any form.

If you're interested I can PM you the details and you could contact them to buy it.

I appreciate the effort but I've got one on order now.

Thanks anyway
