Painting Vorlons

Mongoose
I know that this has probably been asked a 1000 times, but what is a good way to paint vorlons? Step by step would be good. I have tried a few ways like using a sponge, but it looked bad, think I was doing something wrong. Any help is welcomed.

Thanks James

Here's what I did (I keep notes on all my painting)

Yellow Vorlons:
White Primer
Vallejo Sunblast Yellow 72006
Stipple Vallejo Cold Grey 72050
Light Stipple of Sunblast Yellow and Vallejo Bold Moon Yellow 72005 for effect

Red Vorlons:
White Primer
Vallejo Scar Red 72012
Stipple Black
Light Stipple Scar Red and Vallejo Bloody Red 72010 for Effect

"Underwing "Blue of the Transports
Vallejo Magic Blue 72021
Stipple Black
Light Stipple of Black and Magic Blue mix

I assume you know what stipple means, but just in case, it's stabbing with a firm brush so you get pokes instead of strokes.

For insignia
Americana Neutral Gray
Stipple American Grey Skey
Edges Vallejo Ghost Grey 72046
Vallejo Bloody Red 72010 over white for insignia itself

Exhausts
White
Partha Flourescent Yellow (this is hard to find, but any flourescent yellow will do - it just needs to glow more than the surrounding yellow which is pretty bright).

I've actually just been painting my Vorlons today and been trying to match them as closely as possible to the show. The overall pattern is of a mixture of yellows with an overlaid black patina. I checked the DVDs (particularly Interludes and Examinations) and Starship Modeller has some WB original pictures. I had both of these open in front of me for reference whilst painting.

Yellow Vorlons (all colours are GW colours)

Base coat: 50-50 mix of Bad Moon Yellow and Fortress Grey
Stipple over the top: Bad Moon Yellow
Stipple over this: Shadow Grey

The other details are done as appropriate but this gives an excellent approximation of the colour of the Vorlons seen in the show (the Mongoose ones are too bright and the black patterns are too dark and the patterns too large).
