OTU Setting Name

How about "Traveller: The Third Imperium", as was suggested above?
Thing is, Mongoose wants to seperate the setting from the rules. By having the word Traveller in the name itself, you're linking them. Seperated, you can talk about Traveller being OGL and The Third Imperium being PI. Also so that way a new 3rd party writer doesn't get confused and start incorporating stuff from the 3rd Imperium into whatever they're writing. That happened alot with WotC general setting products since all of them have the big Dungeons and Dragons logo on them and very few have anything OGL in them. (Infact only 2 have anything OGL: Unearthed Arcana and Monster Manual II. The core 3 books were all deemed PI; the SRD which contains alot of information from the core 3 books was OGL.)

Sounds a bit lame, no offence.

EDIT: Maybe have the word 'Chronicle' in it or something with the word 'age'. StarQuest? Nah...

The problem is that the name "Traveller" rather suits the setting nicely as is - it offers a sense of exploration and wonder, with implications of adventure, but lacking any forced notions. It is Simple and comfortable, giving the brain plenty of room to wander without being forced into any preconceived notion of setting. What always impressed me with Traveller was the sense that the setting was designed to conform to YOUR adventures, rather than forcing your adventures to conform to the setting.

When I originally planned to do this book for another company (I suspect that the idea comes from something I said at gencon), I intended to call it:

Under the Sunburst: The Third Imperium Sourcebook

I have an unfair advantage - I pitched this book concept; it's one I've been thinking about doing for about 10 years. It's 'the book that should have been done'.

Trust the WRITER to come up with a great title.

I like it too...

Under the Sunburst....

It could be used for just about any of the OTU books.

Catchy, got some zing, and imagine how THIS would sell:

Under the Sunburst: Bodice Rippers of the Third Imperium

for one that got almost no experience with traveller, i like this name but you realy should have the traveller name on the book(s) in big bold letters : )

but thats just my 2 cents

"Under the sunburst" works best if the cover has a burly marine in battledress :)

With his head silhouetted by the Imperial Sunburst, and an Azhanti High Lightning cursing in the background.

Best Regards

I'd say skip the AHL, but keep the rest. If you need a ship, give it the Sullie or Beowolf.

Use the Sulieman. It's the classic wedge and has cleaner lines.

A completely out there idea: I want to see one of the books with the tip of a hiver tentacle wrapped around the edge.

The Sulieman doesn't give the impression of "oppressing" though, that the batledressed Marine and the AHL do.

Just how "oppressive" the Imperium is is a matter of some debate.

That said, I'd prefer the AHL as well.

Well, I was thinking of showing the Scouts as well as the "Sword of the Imperium." Given that this is the OTU source book, focusing on the big hammer of one government may be a bit specific. I'd want some droyne on there as well, because it's all their fault. Probably throw in some of the other major races too. At that point we're starting to look like every other cover on the shelf.

The best result will probably be the standard black cover with a sunburst. What color sunburst will be subject to politicking by the services. :)

This one is the best suggestion thus far. Next best is
The Iridium Throne: Adventures in Charted Space

Or perhaps, "Ride the Poni" ...
