OTU Setting Name

I could live with "Under the Sunburst", so long as there is still "The Third Imperium" in the subtitle.

The design of the cover could look a bit like the poster for the recent sci-fi movie, Sunshine, I guess.

All yellow with an old VW buss on it and people running to get in?!? Oh, wait. That's Little Miss Sunshine. I think that's a tad bit different.

The Sulieman doesn't give the impression of "oppressing" though, that the batledressed Marine and the AHL do.
Just how "oppressive" the Imperium is is a matter of some debate.

That said, I'd prefer the AHL as well.

The Imperium's oppressiveness might depend on how rebellious your world is... if they send an AHL, support craft, and a regiment of marines, you might find them inconvenient. But if they send in ortillery, then they might feel oppressive.

An AHL's primary role IS as Ortillery.

Oh! I didn't realize that!

...sure enough, it's got a generous load of deadfall ordnance...

Greetings, everyone.

Sorry to bring up an earlier suggestion but I really liked "The Iridian Throne: Adventures in Chartered Space".

Then I started thinking, "Hmmmm. Adventure occurs in unexplored space, along the frontier. Chartered space is more stable and commercial."

So how about "The Iridian Throne: Adventures in Imperial Space" (did someone already suggest this?)

This covers both "civilized" and unexplored space.

How does this cover unexplored space, you may ask? Well, wherever there is an Imperial craft, the newly discovered space/planet it occupies now belongs to the Imperium. Was this not the same attitude of the colonial powers from 1492 to recent times?

Anyway, just a thought. Try to resist the urge to shoot the noob.

I like MJD's title Under the Sunburst, though I think Beneath the Sunburst sounds a little more dramatic.

The Iridium Throne would be a good title for a nobles supplement.

Just my .02 credits

Use the Sulieman. It's the classic wedge and has cleaner lines.

A completely out there idea: I want to see one of the books with the tip of a hiver tentacle wrapped around the edge.
Sure sounds good to me! :D

....well, it would, wouldn't it.....me being a Hiver, an' all....... ;)

I'm not sure if it's been finalised yet, but I'd prefer something simple as has already been suggested. "New Era", "Golden Age", etc, were really useful hangs whilst "1248" was a bit too 'insider-y', if you see what I mean, as is something like "The Third Imperium".

Though the following may vary in impact and some may have been mentioned above, they express the sort of thing that might be useful for a reference. All should certainly start with "Traveller: "

"Imperial Space" (-Galaxy)
"Galactic Imperium" (or Expansion)
"Empire of Humanity" (assumes Zhodani, Aslan, Hivers, etc, are all external)
"The Future Imperium" (or Far-)
"Age of Expansion"

Sheesh lot of peeps giving Ideas I like the plain old simple.

Iridium Throne: The Golden Years

I've said it before, but I honestly think most casual Traveller fans would not realise that this is the OTU. It sounds like a fantasy setting.

The Traveller setting is most closely and widely identified by the nom de guerre The Third Imperium. As far as I am concerned no other title would make sense.

I'd like to see something with a bit of umph, so not nothing like the New Era or similar...

The word Iridium has some zing to it, but The Iridium Throne by itself seems a little curt.

Dunno, summat like, Skies of the Iridium Crown: The Third Imperium of Man, or some such.

Tho that doesn't have the umph I'm after...

Keep it simple. It's like band names...the shorter, punchier names stand the test of time whereas the long-winded, fancy ones quickly go out of fashion or get abbreviated down to something more manageable.

So my vote is for something like Traveller: Imperium or perhaps at a push Traveller: The Third Imperium.

...in fact, why not just stick to Traveller? I'm sure everyone will know the difference between the Mongoose and GDW versions.
