Orlanthi Priests/Shamans?

I'm planning a campaign in which the PCs are Orlanthi barbarians from the Golaros Lowlands, trying to protect their people from the God-Learners and the EWF. I'm assuming the characters will all be Barbarians, but with the rules as written that doesn't give them access to the Priest profession. And yet Shaman doesn't seem to give access to the Divine magic of the Orlanthi pantheon. Am I missing something, or is it just that I have to wait for Cults of Glorantha II for the lowdown on Shamans?

This sounds like another case where the need to provide a generic set of rules has been allowed to ride roughshod over the claim that the default setting is Gloranthan...

Orlanthi holy men are priests, and in the second age they have more power than they will in the third age. There are a few shaman, who deal with Kolat and his spirit winds, but they are generally treated as unusual and slightly wierd, if not dangerous...

(Priests deal with Gods and daimones, Shaman deal with spirits, Wizards and sorcerors deal with essences)

if you are starting out with new characters, none of them are likely to be experienced enough to be proper priests. It'll come in character.

if you want them to start with divine magic, just let them pick the priest career and off you go.

There is an overview of the Kolat (Shamanic Air) cult over at www.Glorantha.com, whih should give you ideas. If you actually look a lot of the proffession don't tie properly with the cultural backgrounds, at least in the SRD.
