Maybe they can have a "Vorlon Gunship", "Vorlon Carrier", "Vorlon Destroyer", like the ISA... just to annoy Locutus ;)

Yeah, I don't know what certain people have against giving people options in and with their fleets. It all seems well and good for certain fleets *cough* EA *cough* ISA - but ancients or Minbari? Heck no!

This is the email I got

Hello Derina,

We still haven't had the technomage ships in yet. I'm not sure why ID would have them and not us but i'll get on the case to the metal work guys now. There is a delivery on it's way but that won't be with us until next week. I will email you as soon as I have them in my hands! I hope you can wait a little longer? ;-) Sorry if it's been ages.

Best Regards

Ed Russell

maybe they use different distibutors, (which is odd, being mongoose?!) ID have 3 or 4 Z'Takks in, and I know people were aftert them in other shops and couldn't get them either. Most odd!
Good to hear they will arrive soon though :-)

my origional drakh fleet box was in stock at ID 4 weeks before I got mine from mongoose (which had been ordered 2 months earler still)

Oh I dont mind options, I'd just prefer it if those options showed a little bit of originality. (Withe the EA variant ships by the way its simply refits of weapon systems. If they started doing things like 'Hyperion Carriers' which were just bigger Hyperions with 'omega fighters' then I'd get a bit miffed ;)

As for Vorlons, a varient of the transport/destroyer wouldnt bother me actually . Heck they HAD those varients burger listed (with the exception of 'Gunship') in the original B5Wars lists. What they didnt do was just alter the scale a bit and claim it was a new design. I dont have an issue with variants, I just have an issue with HOW the WS variants were done and left the ISA fleet list just feeling rather samey (it also didnt help that it was a ship as iconic as the whitestar that was being messed around with).

Well, from the show there's nothing to differentiate the Vorlon Destroyer from the Transport, even - the ship taken to be the destroyer looks identical to Kosh's transport, only in red.

The light cruiser, IIRC, is a complete fabrication - the only vorlons we see on screen are the ancient vorlon in Lyta's flashback (thirdspace), the Transport, the Heavy Cruiser, Fighters and the Planet Killer.

The change in scale isn't intentional - but since we have different sized models now, why not take advantage of that fact? (as with small-scale WS's becoming White Star Fighters)?

seems a good idea to me - I would really like the Ancients to have more options.................. :D

Actually they did in one of the AoG sourcebooks give an explantion for the Vorlon ship colours apprently which I rather liked. Basically there were 4 Vorlon skin colours that were different genetic manipulations of the ship to grow into a slightly altered state:

There was the normal Yellow skin which was standard but there were also:

Azure skin colouring - These ships were increased defensively and had increased shield strenght (AoG Vorlons had shields in adition to adaptive armour and self repair (though it should be noted that these traits were not anywhere near as powerful as ACTA adaptive armour (I wont go into how they all worked as Adaptive armour alone was fairly complex (but very cool :P)

Crimson skin colouring - Increased capacitor storage and recharge rate (basically increases the rate you could fire the ships weapons)

Amethyst skin colouring - Increased adaptive armour rating (the ship is better at adapting to weapons)

It should be noted that by this fluff the vorlon skin colours were in fact side effects of these genetic alterations and became more pronounced the more heavily adapted the ship was (so for example and orange ship would be one that had a slight increase in firepower, whereas a dark red one like Kosh 2/Ulkesh/Evil Kosh's (or whatever else you want to refer to him as :P)ship would have a large increase in firepower.

I rather liked this whole idea and personally would love this rule to make some kind of comeback in ACTA (not necessarily of a specific colour but give people the option to choose a couple of modifications to their ships perhaps? Although it would be tricky to balance without having traditional points to fine tune with and also the lower detail on individual ships in ACTA making it trickier to alter ships a tiny amount without having a fairly pronounced effect on their performance.

How about: Increased firepower - Ship gains 1 AD to each of its weapons but has its hull recuced 1.

Increased shields - ship gains 1 hull but has its firepower halved (rounding up)

Increased armour - Ship gains 10% dmg and gains 50% bonus to self repair (rounding up) but has its firepower halved.

OF course this is a very rough idea and I've put very little thought into these exact values but it might be a fun idea to play about with :D

It's not that hot - the fighters that you're actually worried about as a vorlon can shoot at you from outside of it anyway (Rutarian, Thunderbolt).

well i would be worried about WS fighters, and they only have range 2 so have to come into your AF aura.

true - probably best did not apply.

What was your opinion of the idea for 2nd Ed? :)
