Ordering Books

I have, I am now ordering from FRP Games. :o

I have ordered from them several times, but shipping is so expensive!
Yes it is, honestly that's why I waited so long to order from them, but fellow gamers have had great success ordering from them, whereas Yahoo always has some delay, and in my most particular case I always had EXTENSIVE delays (w/pre-orders). Now Amazon doesn't take as long to ship for game products that have been out a while, but they still take about a week or more to get said product from whoever their distributor is. I guess they're trying to get better at it, and as I've written before it's only their rpgs that take so long.

Aside from their usually good shipping record, FRP does offer a good price for their products before shipping costs, so in the end you'll still end up saving a little bit. And their discount doesn't disappear after an item has been released, like Amazon often does.

Well, as an update to this, I'm still awaiting the products I ordered from FRP, so they're not as fast in arriving as I thought (email from vendor said products I'd ordered shipped 9 days ago). Since shipping is so expensive with them, I'd just assumed they had a more expedited shipping system, but guess I was wrong. Or I really am cursed as far as online orders go. :(

This is the message Amazon has concerning Heretics of Tarantia:

Availability: This title usually ships within 2 to 3 weeks. Please note that special order titles occasionally go out of print, or publishers run out of stock. These hard-to-find titles are not discounted and are subject to an additional charge of $1.99 per book due to the extra cost of ordering them. We will notify you within 2-3 weeks if we have trouble obtaining this title. Ships from and sold by Amazon.com. See more on holiday shipping.

I added this in an order with a bunch of other stuff and now they are estimating delivery around Jan. 3rd. This has happened to me before and the products arrived well before the estimation - I hope that is the case this time as well since there are xmas presents in that order! :D

Good luck! I'm thinking of ordering Hyboria's Fallen from Amazon, as I'm not worried whether I recieve in in January, with the busy time of year December is what with Christmas and New Years, and all the holidays and what not.

Then again, I'm starting a new campaign with a slightly different group in January, so maybe I better place an order for quicker delivery now.... :|

Good luck!

Thanks Bregales. :)

I emailed Amazon and they basically told me TOOOOOOOO BADDDDDD  They reiterated that they had to order Heretic directly from the publisher and so delivery before xmas would not happen. I really wanted "Heretics of Tarnatia" but I needed "Tales from the Black Kingdom" anyway (and that is shipping in 24 hours) so I changed the order so the other items I needed for xmas will all arrive in time. I'm going to try and pickup Heretics locally at a RPG shop I frequent only occasionally because it is so far away. Ah well, the Black Kingdom awaits

Well I think you'll like Tales of the Black Kingdoms, I picked it up in September. :D

Hmmm, I see Amazon took the Tower of the Elephant adventure off their site. They were offering it for $24.95, and when I wrote them saying that Mongoose listed it off their web page (that I wrote them about in the first place) they responded that prices set by manufacturers were suggested prices, and they set their own prices based on how they saw fit; nice in your purchase of Tales, bad for anyone who bought Tower on Amazon before they removed it. :o (Maybe they'll offer it again for $9.95, like Heretics Of Tarantia

Try one of the other vendors listed in this thread. I just got my shipment from FRP yesterday:
  • [MGP7709] Conan RPG: Messantia City of Riches Box Set ($31.96)
  • [MGP7715] Conan RPG: Hyboria's Finest - Nobles, Scholars and Soldiers ($19.96) [October PreOrder]
  • [MGP7716] Conan RPG: Heretics of Tarantia ($7.96) [October PreOrder]
  • [MGP7719] Conan RPG: Tower of the Elephant ($7.96) [October PreOrder]
Smartly packaged. It took longer than I thought, but when I checked with Mijoro he said that a week's time (eastern USA) was normal for him too.

One of the many reasons why I don't bother with Amazon any more and just support my local gaming store.
Sounds good. Well, like I've written before, I will go and see if my one local gaming store has it, but they don't carry all of the Conan products. The best gaming store I ever frequented was in upstate NY in Syracuse, and Twilight Book & Game Emporium closed when the owner's wife divorced him, won the store in the settlement, and ran all 3 locations into the ground before long. Oh well. NYC's store is okay but tiny, so they don't have all the products for any line.

Anyways, at least if they do have it I'll pick it up this week. If not, I'll try FRP or one of the other web sites suggested on this thread....

I just found out my local gaming store received Tower of the Elephant, Hyboria's Finest & Heretics of Tarantia this week; they're expecting Hyboria's Fallen in February, the guy on the phone said, so I went ahead and ordered it online after all. :P

I've bought Hyboria's Finest and Heretics at my local gaming store, but they haven't yet received Tower of the Elephant.

Not in a huge rush; just wondering, what level is the adventure?

It's for levels 4-6, SES (4-6 characters of levels 4-6, tests and encounters are standardly developed for this group size at suggested group levels). It has an interesting map of Arenjun on the inside cover, an interesting invention to get the players into the adventure, and floorplans on the tower on the back cover. Much of the 31 pg booklet (p32 is the standard OGL disclaimer) is descriptions of the floors of the tower, encounters/persona stats, etc.

Looks nicely done. Very slim book, but fortunately, as has been suggested in numerous threads, great for the price.

I'll just link some other threads discussing the adventure here for ease.
Strange, the product description page says it's developed for lvls 2-3, yet my book clearly says levels 4-6. Hmmmmm :o

Another option to try for ordering books is Wal-Mart. I was lucky enough to get Tales Of The Black Kingdom fromt hem for 12 bucks while searching for it on fetchbook.info

Oh man, I forgot to check them! I'd spent a while comparing prices and finally gave up and went to the site that proved pretty good for my last purchases. Oh well. :|

I think after a while I may do something I'm doing on our game group's website, and make a single list of all the stores posted by us in this thread. Some other time, I've got a long day tomorrow w/ a tough work week and the first dayof the new stage fencing class.
